First Encounter with "A Chorus Line".

by runner1 on 2010-08-29The Centre for Performing Arts in Vancouver - Vancouver, B.C., Canada

This was the first time that I had seen this musical. It was an enjoyable show. There was nothing flashy or extravagant but it's a solid musical. The last number, "One", was definitely the highlight of the show.

Not the best musical I have seen.

by hunnabee on 2009-11-29Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I guess I was a little surprised at the vulgarity in the performance. I took my 75 year old Mom and sister. I have taken them to many performances that come to our city and this is the only one we would not see again. Storyline was good, as I had suspected, but a lot of the references to sexuality, etc., were not necessary in my opinion. A bit embarrasing to be watching with my Mom. It's also the only performance I have seen where there was no standing ovation. Thanks.

    Disappointed

by critizer on 2009-11-24Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I was so looking forward to seeing Chorus Line--the greatest musical ever!! I'm sorry to say I thought it was the worst one I've seen. After Phantom, Chicago, Showboat, Mama Mia, Oklahoma etc, this was a huge disappointment. Only one memorable song and a whole lot of talking is not my idea of a great musical.

    Barebones Entertainment

by Rockies on 2009-11-24The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

This had been planned as a very special family evening. Fortunately, we preceded the show with a nice dinner. Unfortunately, the show itself was unexpectedly basic - a mediocre storyline (which created a dragged out feeling), lack of special talent amongst the performers, a sound track instead of live music, imprecise dancing, basic costuming, uninspiring music sung by undistinguished voices, almost no set at all. In fairness to the performers, it was obvious that they were giving it their all. Bottom line - good energy, but regrettably we must say that this show was the least enjoyable of the many broadway performances we have seen over the years.

    chorus line

by fortune on 2009-11-22Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Loved this musical from the years past. I was not disappointed with the production. Music was wonderful and the dancing terrific. It was a gift to be at the last performance of this group. The emotion was high, the relief grand, but the comradery and family they built will likely be the hardest to depart from.

    Chorus Line Boring

by keeler on 2009-11-20Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The only good thing about this was the dancing, which was minimal. Female voices were off key and screeching. Couldn't wait for it to end - a total waste of money

    chorus line

by zapped on 2009-11-17Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The show itself was good and professionally done but I was disappointed that there was nothing in the advertising that showed there was that amount of swearing, I brought some younger students with me and I was embarassed by the language. Music, dancing were great though!

    Good but not great

by Mimsey on 2009-11-16Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

A Chorus Line was a bit disappointing in terms of plot and action. In fact I had to fight to keep myself from falling asleep and a man behind us actually did fall asleep. We could tell, because of the snoring! But the dancing and singing, especially, were excellent and the sound in the refurbished Auditorium is wonderful. I would have enjoyed the dancing more if I would have been able to see the whole stage. But I just could not get a sight line around the person in front of me. Our Left Centre seats also felt very tight (we're average sized women) with no place to put our elbows. We would have appreciated an internission.
