Diana Anaid Joins Adam Ant On Australian Tour

Australian singer/songwriter Diana Anaid has been announced today as the support for 80s icon Adam Ant for his forthcoming tour of Australia. Best known for her 90s indie pop anthem ‘I Go Off’, Anaid had one of the decade’s biggest breakout indie hits after triple j support turned her into an indie household name. She’ll be playing songs from across her 20+ year career.

Following his recent sold out North American and UK tours, pop icon Adam Ant is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the release of his landmark “Kings of the Wild Frontier” album with a newly-remastered reissue (Sony Legacy) and Australian tour. Adam will play the classic album in its entirety and in sequence.

For ticket information, visit www.mjrpresents.com "I'm really looking forward to performing the 'Kings of the Wild Frontier' album live and in sequence plus my other favorite songs from the repertoire, in Australia,” Adam said. “Kings of the Wild Frontier” introduced the Burundi Beat style of thundering, infectious, Central African drumming to a pop-music audience.

Adam captured the live sound by incorporating two drummers into his band, a musical signature that remains to this day. In addition to remastering the classic album, Adam personally designed the deluxe box set that includes items from his extensive personal archive and a bonus DVD of the out-of-print “Ants In Japan” concert video.

The platinum album, originally released in 1980, crowned the UK Album Chart and spent more time in the top position than any other album at the time. The album went on to achieve worldwide recognition and produced massive chart-topping singles including the classic “Antmusic”, the breakthrough tribal onslaught of “Dog Eat Dog” and the epic title track. In Australia, the “Antmusic” single spent five weeks at #1 on the charts.

    Amazing Venue!

by Lola Ramona on 2019-09-24Beacon Theatre - New York

This was such a great place to see a show. Adam Ant was great, played all our faves, and great energy. I just wished he'd included a sax player. We really noticed the songs were lacking that! Not sure why he didn't as there seemed to be a lot of long haired guys with guitars on stage. More pirates would have been appreciated. Looked a bit like a cross between poison and the Cult. The opening band was brutal. A great show regardless, always great to see a legend still givin' it.

Can't tell you how much I enjoyed this show. Had no idea he had so much material. He looked great and had a very strong stage presence. I would definitely see him again.

Great performance I’ve seen him before and he keeps getting better as the years pass. He looks and moves like he’s 20 years younger than he is 😃. fantastic show

    Serious Fun!!

by Kirstie on 2019-09-18The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I was desperate and serious about seeing Adam Ant that I flew 1677 miles to his show. Had a blast! He's amazingly charismatic and energetic. Mesmerizing. 2 drum kits, 2 snare drums, 3 electric guitars had me dancing nonstop! Venue was cosy and floor slopes so I could dance close to stage and see over tall people (I'm 5 ft 4"). Sound was perfect. Didn't have ringing in my ears after. High quality merch sold by jovial seller. Happy with my new cosy soft T-shirt and autographed poster. Go see Adam's show! So much FUN!!

    Did not disappoint

by Laura on 2019-09-18The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

A fantastic show -- Friend or Foe in its entirety followed by songs from further back in the catalogue was a delight to see live. The energy was great, the band was solid (so much awesome percussion!)

    A Killer Show!

by C. S. on 2019-09-18The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I didn't see Adam Ant in the 80's when I certainly could have. I believe the show I saw Sunday night was as good as or even better than, one I would have seen in the 1980's. The first show I've seen w/ two drummers (I do believe the female drummer was in his original line-up). Two guitarists and a bassist, three guitarists when Adam, himself picked up a guitar. He's not the first musician to do an early album in it's entirety (Gary Numan also does), but he and his band flawlessly gave us each and every song from Friend or Foe. After it's completion, we got another 45 minutes of songs, w/ almost a hard rock edge to them. Theatrical in his videos from the 80's, he was also on stage Sunday night. He side stepped and prowled the stage like a caged wild cat and the one guitarist and bassist also seemed to have their movements choregraphed. They would leave their playing for some songs to play the bongos. The show ended w/ Stand and Deliver. The band then returned for a 2 song encore. With an extremely tight band, Adam, at 64 looked extremely fit and his voice, still impeccable. They rocked it old skool without video background so you could see the band better if you didn't have great seats. Their only special effect was some strobe lights during one song. In doing so, he most certainly took us back to the 80's, but I now have a 22 year old daughter that joins the ranks of Ant People. I have been to over 100 concerts in my years, and this show certainly ranks among by top 20, if not 10. It was, a killer show.

    Great Show

by Trumpton on 2017-02-01The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

There seemed to be an extra level of emotional energy throughout the performance, perhaps as a result of the first show since the sudden passing of Tom Edwards(guitarist). I took my 10yr old son and we had an amazing time. Adam can still own the stage and put on an outstanding show.

    Outstanding!!!

by brit80 on 2017-02-01The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

We have never seen Adam Ant in concert so we did not know what to expect. We were absolutely amazed how well he performed.. clearly the man is in incredible shape and has kept his voice unlike many from his era . Outstanding concert from beginning to end considering the recent tragedy of his bandmate. I made the mistake of not taken floors so i highly recommend floors if you want to dance.... trust me you will. The man has more energy on stage than anyone ive seen...awesome!! As for the rest of the band, they are super talented, they all seem like they love what they are doing.
