    Superb performers-Papadduke Band

by modality9 on 2013-02-28Main Stage Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts - Toronto

The evening belonged to Papadduke and his band. The recognizable rhythms of waltz, tango, czardas, jazz and more, turned into individualized take off that only great musicians can achieve. Bar none, they were superb, from the drum player to the guitar player who produced unique sounds on his stylized/personalized instrument. The guitar base player was equally superb. There is very little to write about the man at the piano, the accordion player and the ultimate master of the violin-the man himself. They are first class musicians. Excellent concert. I am now searching for the recordings of the concert, because once is not enough.

    Alexander Rybak, we were short-changed!

by 7771 on 2013-02-26Main Stage Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts - Toronto

It is a given that the first name billed is ALWAYS the main act. This was not the case here. Rybak was merely a short opening act (four songs). As a lover/performer of many styles of music, my comment is not intended to diminish a phenomenal performance given by the violinist Vasil P. However, not only were we NOT familiar with the Papaduk Band but also NOT fans of their chosen genre of music either. Had we known that Rybak was merely the opening act we would definitely not have purchased premium tickets that we couldn't afford. We feel terribly duped.

    Alexander Rybak <3

by Mocha222 on 2013-02-25Main Stage Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts - Toronto

This concert was really amazing both acts were very talented!! My only complaint was that the advertising of this event made it sound that Alexander was the main act and he only played five songs. Really wish it was more shared stage time like the advertising made it appear.

Rybak was missing, but Papa Duke saved the day.

by Stultus on 2013-02-25Main Stage Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts - Toronto

The concert was billed as Alexander Rybak with the Papa Duke band. Rybak came out for 5 songs, one of which was played from playback and lip-synched. All the others he wasn't even playing the violin. He can sing and he tried to get the crowd into it, but it was a pretty bad effort and he definitely didn't put enough into it. He has the charisma to put on a much better show. Maybe he was shy, who knows. The Papa Duke band on the other hand was incredible and should have been advertised as the headliner. Vasyl Papadiuk and David West are unbelievable artists and it was a great pleasure to listen to them and have them put on a great show. It's truly amazing to hear what they can do with their instruments. The 2 artists definitely didn't fit together though. Half of the audience were teenage girls who came to see Rybak and many of them left after he finished. This wasn't a very well thought-out concert.

Alexander Rybak was a Fairytale !!!

by Karlapouya on 2013-02-25Main Stage Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts - Toronto

This concert was AMAZING !!!!! Although Alexander didn't play much songs as i hoped he would (5 songs in 30 minutes ! ) He made up for it in the meet and greet afterwards the show! :) He is a very humble and down to earth person !!! Signing autographs from 9:30pm to 1am in the morning !
