About

Holding onto hope when times are tough can take an awful lot of determination, and sometimes, an awful lot of determination comes in a surprisingly small package. Little Orphan Annie has reminded generations of theatergoers that sunshine is always right around the corner, and now the best-loved musical of all time is set to return in a new production - just as you remember it and just when we need it most.

Annie, directed by Jenn Thompson, features the iconic book and score, written by Tony Award®-winners Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin. This celebration of family, optimism and the American spirit remains the ultimate cure for all the hard knocks life throws your way.

The cast did an amazing job. The sound was a little off, and at times, the music overpowered the singing. We had to strain to hear some of the dialogue. Otherwise, great job!

    Annie was amazing!!

by Ashley17 on 2016-05-04Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The show was fantastic and all the performers were truly amazing! Definitely worth seeing, especially if you are a fan of theatre. Only thing I noticed was the show was a little long. A lot of the children around us were bouncing in there sits and could barely sit still. I think I show direct to children should be a little shorter. All in all it was a very memorable experience!

    Annie

by Auntiejoe on 2016-05-03Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I was very disappointed I paid good money for seats that I thought were good and found out they weren't at all the ones they were supposed to be. The site is horrible for choosing seats, I booked early paid more than the day of the play and didn't get the ones I had requested. The performance i found not appropriate for children with the amount of cursing that was in it.Never seen it before with any and now it was in it very disappointing and unimpressed.I found they cut scenes out,.rearranged and added to many new things than the other versions which was quite unimpressed with.

    I bet it was great

by WallyDee on 2016-05-03Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

We were too far away to see the intricacies of the performance. Facial expressions and small actions were all but invisible to us. From what we could see, the acting and exuberance of the cast was everything you could ask for with no disappointments or weak links. The musical performances were exceptional - voices, timing and orchestra. The story was true to book and well presented. Every once in a while, the dialogue became difficult to understand, mostly from microphones trying to pick up low male or high child voices. The set was very well done. If you can get good seats, this has the potential to be one of the best travelling musicals you will ever see.

    Annie and friends

by edmonton204 on 2016-05-03Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

The actors were superb. Considering how young some of the players were, it was incredible how well acted the show was. If there were mistakes, it was not noticeable. The adult actors were also very good. With seating in the first (AA) row, it was not hard to notice the makeup, costumes or set design. Even from where I was sitting, the stage looked huge, the costumes well done (even dirt was in the right place), all actions were very realistic, each line said clearly (unfortunately Mr. O Warbucks had a small microphone taped to his right cheek; which would be needed for clarity). The orphans had well choreographed roles; with dancing and singing done to perfection. Set design was beautiful and well placed to the era, time and place. Each person filled his/her role with a believability that brought the story home. Annie's curled wing needed a bit more attention though.

Annie was not what I hoped

by PEN75 on 2016-05-03Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Perhaps it was just because I loved the movie so much, but it just seemed like the whole thing was pretty low energy overall. I was expecting to really enjoy myself but I found my mind wandering because nothing was really catching or holding my attention. With the exception of Ms. Hannigan of course, she stole the show. I thought the little one who played Annie had a nice voice but she really over-enunciated everything. Mr. Warbucks, again I was expecting a big booming voice from him but there were several times I felt myself disappointed. And my sister and I were both like "why the hell does Annie have straight hair?" I wouldn't recommend it. Kids might like it though, but for two people who really enjoy Broadway plays, we were both disappointed.

    Annie was a HIT!

by KMKS on 2016-05-03Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

It was a spectacular show. Sadly, the sound quality was disappointing. We had great difficulty hearing all of the lines in the show, and we were near the front of the first balcony.

    Annie - exceptional performance

by RBauhuis on 2016-05-02Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Annie the Broadway Across Canada production was outstanding in every sense of the word. Acting was professional and flawless. The every actor's nightmare is working with kids and animals but didn't hold true on this performance. Sound, lighting, venue was bang on. Unlike Wizard of Oz where microphone issues prevented the actors form being heard over the music. All in all a "recommend" for anyone to see!

    Annie

by Nevaeh on 2016-05-02Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Story line was totally changed. It was far too late of a show considering it was catering to children. It did not end till 10:10 at night. No reason why it could not have started at 7 not 730 then it was 10-15 mins late starting. Unnecessary!
