Mr. Aqualung, a.k.a. Matt Hayes, is a delight to watch on stage. His personality and charm are infectious and, even as he fumbled a few song lyrics and had an iPod refresher of his own music, you can't help but feel that you've spent a lovely evening in the company of a dear friend who is also a talented musician.
His anecdotes and stories intermingling with his beautiful, soulful music, set against the relaxed atmosphere of the Biltmore left the entire concert seeming more like a Saturday night with friends in a parent's basement than a room full of strangers in a bar on a weeknight.
After the show, being the perfect English gentleman that he is, Hayes signed autographs and took photos with fans, leaving no one behind and taking the time to have genuine conversations with each. Not wanting to be left out I too had a photo taken and an autograph signed which read "To Awesome-ness, a.k.a. -----. From your best friend in the whole world, Matt x."
Great guy, great music, great show.
