    Refined Excellence

by Fallguy on 2012-10-15Bears Den At Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel - Niagara Falls

Holy Moly!! I went to the Bears Den with high anticipation and was STILL jaw-droppingly impressed!! Carl Palmer and Steve Howe are always expected to be great but John Wetton and Geoff Downes were outstanding in their own right. This is clearly "Palmer's" band and I had forgotten how time-signature oriented Asia were. Watching them iive was a testament to the huge Rhythm influence led by Palmer FIRST, obviously Wetton's bass & the incredible Steve Howe's "Yes" soaked guitar licks. Geoff Downes made me wonder how (with all due respect) Rick Wakeman got SO much of the acclaim for Yes. John Wetton still has the vocal metal of a 25 year old and pumped our intimate house into a mild frenzy. Go get yourself a ticket and be treated to some of the old, the new and check out lyrics you can actually hear and decipher with heart and meaning! I don't need even mention Palmer's drumming as it REMAINS the stuff of Legend. What a great event!

Incredible play, the band is wow! What a drum solo of Carl, I never sean one like that. Keyboardist Geoff Downes have sign to of my T-shirt, what a gentlemen! John Wetton is amasing singer and great at the bass. The words in these songs are full of meaning. And what the say of the unique guitar player Steve Howe and it fantastic solo. What a great and generous band. Mario B.

    Asia

by bramshkoo on 2011-05-12Métropolis - Montreal

the real reason i went to see Asia was for Steve Howe and Carl Palmer. they did not dissapoint. Howe makes his guitar sing and there aren't many better drummers today than Palmer. overall, a very entertaining night from professional musicians.

    Asia...best show ever!!!!!

by Svensjl on 2011-05-11Métropolis - Montreal

I have loved Asia since I was in High School way back in 1982. I was absolutely thrilled when I found out that they were coming to Montreal to do a concert with the original 4 members. I had seen Asia in concert once in the 1990's but it was with John Payne on vocals. That concert paled in comparison with this one. John Wetton is a much better singer than Payne. Steve Howe is a guitar God. I was in awe when I watch him play. Overall this is the best concert I've ever been to. Thank you Asia (John Wetton, Steve Howe, Geoff Downes & Carl Palmer) you guys rock!!!!!!!

    ASIA show overwhelming!

    by Howie22 on 2011-05-11Métropolis - Montreal

Finally after more than 25 years I got to see Asia perform live last night, and I was not disappointed! What a fantastic show, with a great mix of new and classic Asia. Omega stands on its own, but with the tracks from Phoenix and from the 80s the show was brilliant. The band sounded so tight, lively and genuine, and at times I had to close my eyes to keep from being overwhelmed. Great show guys and thank you for your hard work and being back. See you next time you're in Montreal!

    Asia Amazing!

    by 77Wild on 2011-05-11Métropolis - Montreal

Super show, hope they come back soon. What can you say, after all these years they sounded so good, playing was superb. A nice mix of classics and new songs (which held up well along side). A little longer would have been nice.

    Asia time to retire

    by saxman1 on 2011-05-11Casino Rama - Orillia

The lead singer has lost his voice but this is expected because of his age, the solo drums was the highlight of the concert

    Asia disapointment

by wrhfinancial on 2011-05-10Casino Rama - Orillia

Show was to short. John seemed to have a head cold and did not have good vocals. They only played 4 or 5 songs from their old material and last time we saw them they played one song from each of their previous bands. One positive Carl Palmer did an amazing drum solo.

    ASIA at Casino Rama

by mfower on 2011-05-10Casino Rama - Orillia

It was incredible to have the opportunity to see one of the great and iconic bands of the 80's play live with all four original members. I have to say that it was not what I would call an exciting concert experience. For the most part, no one ventured much further away from one spot the entire performance. Time has taken its toll on the band, even on John Wetton's voice (he sounded like he might have had a cold), yet he still punched out the tunes. We never saw much more than Geoff Downes back while he played keyboards. Carl Palmer was very good on drums including his solo. Steve Howe, who looked very frail and thin, was flawless on guitar. The visuals were little more than a large screen showing specific album covers of the song currently being played. Would I pay to see them again? My answer would be "No." The reality is that they were certainly not the most entertaining band to see live however, I am very glad I finally did see and hear them perform!
