About

B.B. King is in his late 80s, but the King of Blues is still on stage with his band and his famous guitar Lucille more than 100 nights a year -- a tour schedule that would tax many artists a quarter of his age. He's without a doubt the most well-known and successful living blues artist in the world. A Mississippi native, Riley B. King first built his reputation while working as a DJ, guitarist and jingle writer at the legendary radio station WDIA in Memphis, where he was known as "Blues Boy King" -- a nickname that was later shortened to B.B. He recorded his first album in 1949, and has released more than 50 albums since that have yielded popular songs like "The Thrill is Gone," "Three O'Clock Blues," and "You Upset Me Baby." King, a 1987 inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is known for his precise and sparse guitar style in which he plays individual strings instead of chords, coaxing his unmistakable sound by bending and holding notes. Today he plays concerts sitting down because of his diabetic condition, but that doesn't stop fans from scooping up tickets to see this still-vital living legend who influenced guitarists ranging from Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton to John Mayer and Derek Trucks.

BB is a legend - had to see him

by Rayh on 2014-07-19Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

It was a thrill to see him even though he there was not enough music. He paid too much attention to the people with the cameras and the people talking to him. His music director cut the show short because BB was confused and played the thrill is gone, twice. His music director should have help him along because you could see BB wanted to stay on the stage.

    BB King

by PatbigFans on 2013-10-20Massey Hall - Toronto

He is just amazing for an 82 yr old man..... but it was too bad that his 'handlers' could not help him stay focused.... it was a little less than an hour show... for $100.... it could have been way better....BB is a talented man... but... he could have put forth a more organized show. I won't do it again...

    BB King was embarrassing

by Carsce on 2013-10-13Massey Hall - Toronto

Poor BB King. His management should be ashamed for touring him in his physical condition! He played for 60 minutes and completed 4 songs. Awful show and a waste of $220. Massey Hall should be held accountable as well for booking such a disappointing act. Let the man retire with dignity and his legend intact.

His act is wonderful. At the age of 88 his playing still spot on.

I was very dissappointed with the show.It only lasted 70 minutes and a good part of that was about getting the audience to sing along.I didn't pay to hear the audience sing. The end of the show was confusing. It seemed that he just ran out of steam and ended it prematurely.

    BB King Concert

by RayB on 2013-06-12The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

I really don't like writing a negative review about a legend. The man can still play the guitar. His band was excellent. But I didn't pay to listen to them and I didn't pay to hear him stretch "you are my sunshine" & "when the saints go marching" out for 20 minutes each. He did one song that made me sit up and pay attention. If he wants to continue to do shows he should consider joining in with others and do one or two numbers tops. He is no longer a headliner. Our tickets weren't worth 1/3rd what we paid. The taped music played by the Colosseum prior to the show starting was more entertaining and enjoyable.

BB King and Caesars was a letdown.

by salmoncover on 2013-06-12The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

We arrived early to eat and see the show. After checking the lines at four of the restaurants we decided on Legends. After ordering it took 45 minutes to get our meal (even just the soup). We ate quickly and rushed to get to the show only to discover the lineup to enter was well back through the casino. We just were seated when the show started. BB's band was fantastic but the man himself is just not able to do it anymore. I saw him 20 years ago and it was one of the best concerts ever. The whole show was just over one hour and most of that was talking and singing 'You are my sunshine" and "When the saints go marching in". I am a huge BB King fan but surely there could have been an opening act or a disclaimer that this is a tour about appreciating the man and not listening to his music.

BB King - the thrill IS gone

by drcoolfish on 2013-06-11The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

He is 87 yrs old, and it is obvious that he is not like when he was in his prime years. For an 87 yrs old man, he is great. But sadly, the thrill is gone.

    BB King was King!

by KingOfTheBlues99 on 2013-06-11The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

BB King put on a phenomenal show! The show started promptly at 8pm by having his Blues Band warm up the stage. Such AMAZING musicians! BB arrived to the stage with a huge ovation! He played for a total of 75 minutes. BB included tons of interaction with the audience, people were up dancing and BB was doing his best to dance in his seat! BB may be 87 years old but his musician skills are that of a young 20 year old BB. This guy can still play guitar and plays very well! If you have not yet had the chance to see BB play in person, please go see him!
