About

Beady Eye is proof that good things can come from break-ups. After the dissolution of Oasis, Liam Gallagher started Beady Eye with three other former members of Oasis — guitarists Andy Bell and Gem Archer and drummer, Chris Sharrock. They are often joined on tour by Jay Mehler, the former bassist with Kasabian. The band's first album, Different Gear, Still Speeding, was produced by Steve Lillywhite, who had previously worked with U2, Peter Gabriel and Morrissey, and released in November 2010 to largely positive reviews. Q magazine stated that the album was Liam Gallagher's best work since What's the Story Morning Glory? back in the early days of Oasis.

In Europe the album appeared on the band's own eponymous record label, while in America it was released through the Dangerbird Records label. Four Top 100 singles were released from the debut album, “Bring the Light,” “Millionaire,” “The Beat Goes On” and the most successful single from the album, “The Roller,” which peaked at number 31 on the singles chart. Beady Eye went on a mammoth nine-month tour from March to December 2011which took in the UK, USA and several European countries.

As well as performing their own original material, Beady Eye also perform several Oasis songs as part of their set, and they famously performed “Wonderwall” at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics. Beady Eye's second album, BE, was produced by Dave Sitek, who is highly regarded for his work with TV on the Radio, Jane's Addiction and Bat For Lashes, and went on sale in June 2013.

Despite Gallagher's previous assertions that he would never play it again, Beady Eye opened the Glastonbury Festival in June 2013 with an unannounced performance on the alternative Other Stage. The band's August 2013 tour, which included an appearance at the V Festival, had to be cut short because of a head injury to Gem Archer sustained at his home. As well as achieving considerable success, particularly in terms of album sales, in the UK and Ireland, Beady Eye also have a sizeable cult following in North America and Europe. In December 2013, it was announced that the band would be undertaking a European tour in 2014 which would include shows in 12 cities, including Barcelona, Lisbon and Paris.

Amazing show, recommend to anyone. Not quite as great as Oasis, but still right up there as one of the best live bands i've seen.

    A big snooze

Pretty boring actually. songs are OK, but little or no substance. The drunk Brits in the crowd were more entertaining.

Beady Eye put on a stunning performance!!!

by withmy2girlz on 2011-06-27The Sound Academy - Toronto

Beady Eye at the Sound Academy were absolutely wonderful. I embraced the new Beady Eye album when it came out, but after having heard them perform all the tracks live, I simply adore it. From start to finish this was a night I will never forget. I was all of 5 feet in front of these amazing musicians and was spellbound the whole time. Each one with their own cheeky personality and swagger, just a pleasure to take in. I will not miss any future Beady Eye performances, and wish them all the best on their tour. I was thrilled that they included Toronto in their choice of cities to perfom on the first leg on their North American tour. I hope Beady Eye felt as embraced as they deserved. Being in the crowd, front & centre, what an honour and experience. Love your history, but equally love your endeavours of now, and future. Talent abounds. Play on and can't wait for the next one.

    Unbelievable!

by sallycanwait on 2011-06-24Sound Academy - Toronto

Oasis has always been one of my favourite bands but unfortunately I was never able to see them live. When I learned that Beady Eye was formed, I'll be honest - I was skeptical about how I would recieve them. The great musicianship of Noel had left but Beady Eye proved that they could still rock. The album overall was decent but then came the true test - the live shows. The band was so full of energy and they were all on top form. Explosive songs like Four Letter Word, Man of Misery, and Sons of Stage completely blew my mind. I never expected that the band could pull of such a great performance and Liam's voice sounded magnificent. I would see Beady Eye at any possible opportunity - they were absolutely stellar and I can now appreciate the album to its full extent. Great show!

    Solid Show

by Roma on 2011-06-24Sound Academy - Toronto

The band sounded tight, and Liam's voice was spot on. He seemed to be in a better mood than all those years with Oasis. l guess one should be thankful when going from playing Wembley to playing 2000 seat venues. Solid show overall!
