Ben Folds has paved the way for piano-driven pop-punk since the late 80's, developing a major cult following along the way. Sporting his signature square-framed glasses, the former Ben Folds Five frontman performs his hit-filled sets with an energy that can't be matched, pounding the piano keys with intensity while belting out hits like "You Don't Know Me" and "Rockin' the Suburbs." Folds takes a fresh approach on his 2014 tour, performing a newly composed piano concerto for fans on his self-described "tour of symphonic proportions" The Ben Folds Orchestra Experience.
Ben Folds started his music career playing with bassist friend Millard Powers under the name Majosha in the late '80s, frequently performing at fraternity parties and bars near North Carolina's Duke University. After playing in a number of underground bands, Folds brought some friends together to form Ben Folds Five in 1994, resulting in the band's self-titled debut the following year. Following a successful run with the band, Folds decided to take his music in a new direction, pursuing a solo career that launched him to a new level of fame. Since then, he has released three acclaimed solo albums and toured with countless major acts including John Mayer, Rufus Wainwright, and Weezer. In addition to his success as a recording artist he has also appeared in various small-screen roles, including a cameo on the television series Community and a stint as a judge on the hit show The Sing Off. Ben Folds returns to the stage in 2014 for a nationwide tour, during which he'll collaborate with a number of world-renowned orchestras.
