Not what we expected... Thought it was a comedy show, but was an interview of life events.

Betty White was brilliant as was Randene & Sophie

by Vancouverlorelei62 on 2012-03-02The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Mum and I had wonderful seats and enjoyed the show thoroughly. GIven that she turned 90 the other day, she is witty and astute as ever. Loved the Carol Burnett show last year. I wish I had seen her at the Centre this year for a dose of double the laughs! I'd love to see Tracy Ullman and Steve Martin at some point.

Too bad the show wasn't half as good at the guest!

by YaletownYVR on 2012-02-27The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Paid close to $600 for four seats expecting a fun and exciting show that would feature the Betty we've known and loved from Golden Girls and her recent SNL appearances. Instead, we were treated to a sleepy sit down interview, hosted by two Global TV daytime news personalities who seemed like they barely knew anything about Betty. Reading scripted campy questions and anecdotes form cue cards, the hosts prompted Betty to talk about various memories from years past. The event was plagued with audio problems, the "questions from the audience" segment had an awkwardly rigid format (staff took flowers that were brought by one audience member for Betty, and haphazardly tossed them on the side of the stage, where they remained until the conclusion of the event). The event culminated in a infomercial-style presentation about one of the charities that Betty supports, including the presentation of a grainy video about the work they do. The format would have been appropriate for a breakfast television segment and not a pricey Saturday night show. Email to Vancouver Comedy Festival, sharing my feedback, has so far gone unanswered.

    Betty White Hmmmm

by unbelievableusay2 on 2012-02-23The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Betty White was great but was expecting more from her. Perhaps a stand-up comedy show. Spent far to much money to watch Sophie Lui and Randene Neill. Sophie & Randene are great broadcasters but we didn't pay $220,00 plus to see them. We wanted more Betty White. Betty is a legend to her own craft. A real eloquent and classy lady. Would have loved to hear more from her. More jokes, comical stories, stand-up comedy (even if she's sitting down). Unfortunately, I already knew 1/2 of Betty's life story she talked about. Why would I spend so much money when I can get her life history from the internet.

Betty White a waste of money

by SOOOOOOODisappointed on 2012-02-22The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

I had high hopes for this show - and really don't think "she's 90" is an excuse. Can't do it? Then don't! After an amazing showing on SNL and her hilarious current role on Cleveland, I expected some laughs....nothing doing. It was essentially an interview hosted by Sophie Lui and Randeen Neil (or should I say held together by Randeen) - she was not prepared and often rambling over the questions. No laughs here.... This was followed by some Q&A - also boring, then Lynn Collier and her husband were invited up on stage to play a mock game of Password (yawn). It was really like watching the news with a special guest. Not worth the almost $150 per ticket. I took my 82 year old mother to this event - she doesn't have much opportunity to get out to an event like this - she was also very disappointed. Oh, and it was less than an hour! (Although maybe in retrospect that's a good thing)

    An interview?

by Jetgirl on 2012-02-22The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Unless I missed it somewhere, I had no idea this was just an interview with Betty White. I felt a bit deceived, as I expected a stand up comedy routine, and it was also very short. THe interview was good but I would never have bought the tickets for the price especially if I knew that was the whole event.

    Living Legend

by pjtwins on 2012-02-21The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

A warm and funny evening with a living legend. Hope I'm as sharp as she is when I'm her age. Betty White has still got it!
