About

BILLY CONNOLLY IN CONCERT:

Sideways-thinking and speed-chatting Scotsman Billy Connolly is a consummate improv performer and storyteller, regaling crowds with off-kilter folk songs and ridiculously circuitous stories for decades. Fans can always expect something weird, canny, and Scottish at his winking live shows as he works his way through new material and old standbys from his expansive discography. Having bounced back from prostate cancer in 2013, he remains an unstoppable force of funny on his 2014 tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Originally trained as a welder, Glaswegian comic Billy Connolly was inspired to a life of performing after one too many drinks at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Seeing the freaks and geeks he realized he could do the same, taking up banjo lessons and forming the comic-folk duo the Humblebums. His hilarious introductions before the band’s shows gained him recognition as a comic, and when the band split in the '70s, he took his act solo. Since then, he's gone on to achieve legendary status as a funnyman, writer, actor, and massive influence on subsequent generations of "tongues."

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"First time I have managed to see Billy live and he was amazing. We laughed from the minute he came on until he finished.”

"Billy Connolly is one of the best comedians! I've seen him perform in multiple countries now and have never been disappointed."

"Billy was the best comedy show I have ever seen. Laughed so hard I cried and my sides hurt.”

    Once in a lifetime show

by Vaneden on 2015-11-28Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

So glad that we got to see him as we both really enjoy everything we have seen him in before. The only downside was the seats. They were absolutely awful. They were so bad we would have preferred to see the show on a DVD as we would have actually seen Billy better. The material was great, he was funny, definitely a great show to see!

A great storyteller. But don't left the soft spoken cadence of his Scottish brogue fool you. He talks about the swear words Americans don't like to hear, and the ones they do like to hear. Stories all weave into each other, and before you know it 2 hours have passed. A delight, a riot.

    Billy Forever!

by Connickholic on 2015-11-14Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I have seen Billy Connolly at least 4 times. This was the first time since his Parkinson`s diagnosis. Although he did not move about the stage, his wit was as sharp and Scotslike as ever! His mind is amazingly clever, and he has that twinkle in his eye that comes from a laddie having a life well-lived. His stories made my stomach hurt from laughter, and the show was still 2 hours long. (short for him though). Last time I saw him, he was walking about and engaging the audience even more, and it was 3 hours long. His ailment is obvious, and I cannot imagine we will be seeing Billy again on tour. He rose above it - addressed it right off the bat - and in his inimitable way, had us all in the palm of his hand. I`ll love ya forever laddie. They should rename their anthem Billy the Brave (not Scotland the brave). Love, love, love him. Bless us all for knowing him, and thanks for all the laughs!!

    Impressive

by petercuriosity on 2015-11-13Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Mr. Connolly displayed an amazing wit and incredible stamina. More that two hours of wry stand-up humour flowed seamlessly. Some of his jokes were a little edgy but his generous view of the human condition prevailed. He is earthy and smart. He seems to like the sound of the word 'fuck' - which he uses a lot. This was the first time I saw Mr. Connolly perform on stage but I could tell from the audience that he has devoted fans - I can see why. Great show Billy.

    Legend comes to town

by TurkishTed on 2015-11-13Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

The house was packed. The man is a legend in his own lifetime and rightly so. Sadly, not as mobile as he once was due to his illness but his mind is as sharp as ever. I laughed till I cried. Then laughed and cried some more. A fantastic evening and one I will remember for some time to come.

Billy Connelly:High Horse Tour was Fantastic!

by Brendalucci on 2015-11-13Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

We thoroughly enjoyed the evening with Billy Connolly - his humourous slant on everyday things is such a joy. He even made his Parkinson's and recent Prostate Cancer humorous! I would go to any of his concerts any chance I got. Well worth it!

    Terrible Soumd

by Dragonfly12 on 2015-11-13Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Billy is funny but at times you could barely hear him. Several complaints from others about sound nothing done. My father who had been waiting for the evening fell asleep because he could not hear and was bored. You would think this would have been sorted before the evening started.
