About

BLACK MOON IN CONCERT:

Hip-hop trio Black Moon has been spitting fan-favorites ever since breaking into the rap scene in 1992. Backed by a full band, DJ, and horn section, the Brooklyn-based group flows hard on tracks like "Who Got da Props?" and knows how to interact with the crowd to get the party started. One of underground hip-hop's biggest acts, Black Moon always show complete mic mastery on the stage and they’re only getting better and better with each tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Brooklyn outfit Black Moon was formed by Buckshot, 5 ft, and DJ Evil Dee in 1992, and they spent a year honing their craft before the release of their 1993 debut Enta da Stage. The album peaked at No. 7 on the Top Heatseekers chart and featured the underground fan-favorite "Who Got da Props?" which earned them a cult following. After a six-year hiatus the band got back together and released several more acclaimed LPs including 1999's War Zone, a Top 10 hit on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Known for head-bobbing, beat-heavy performances, the trio remains one of the hottest live acts in hip-hop.

Tribute to the Classics brought Real Hip Hop Back

by Fly009 on 2009-07-24The Opera House - Toronto

The show started off with the Beatminers getting the crowd hyped up. Then local emcee Promise took the stage and delivered a great set that ended in an accapella rap at the end. Next up was Marco Polo and Torae. At one point during the set Marco Polo and DJ Linx we're making a beat live on stage and Torae spit a great freestyle off the top of the dome. Then we moved into the headliners. Smif n Wessun and Buckshot of Black Moon [5ft got held up by immigration and not allowed to enter Canada]. The crowd went wild as they did the classics like "Black Smif N Wessun", "How Many Emcees" and more. At one point Duck Down Records CEO Dru Ha even picked up the mic and spit a verse. The night ended with Buckshot doing his verse from the collab song with KRS-ONE called "Robot". At the end of the show all the acts took the time to sign autographs and have their picture taken with fans. I also heard it ended up being a sold out event. Was a great time and awesome show.

Black Moon/Smif n Wessun killed it!!

by boflex on 2009-07-24The Opera House - Toronto

This was an incredible performance @ the infamous Opera House Venue in Toronto. DJ Evil Dee on the 1's and 2's hyped up the crowd with a huge mix of oldschool hip hop beats before introducing Smif n Wessun/Black Moon on stage. After 15+ years in the game these guys can outperform and get a bigger reaction out of the crowd than anyone I know. The vibe was electric and a big moment for olschool REAL hip hop heads. Recognize the Boot Camp Clik out of Bucktown!!!!!
