BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Bright Light Bright Light is the brainchild of Welsh-born multi-instrumentalist Rod Thomas. His first forays into music were folk-based -- he wrote his first song at age 13 and showed an affinity for acoustic guitar tracks featuring minimal beats and folky songwriting. In his early '20s he moved to London where he built a home recording studio and cut his teeth performing in the city's busy underground train stations. As he became more influenced by disco and house music, he released several electro pop singles under his own name. He eventually adopted the Bright Light Bright Light moniker, inspired by a line from the movie Gremlins. In 2009 he sent demo tracks to producer Boom Bip (Neon Neon), who invited him to Los Angeles and produced his debut single, "Love Part II". As his skills as a DJ and producer sharpened, Thomas remixed tracks for Ellie Goulding and Nina Pallot, and before long he had hearned an opening slot on Goulding's UK Tour in 2010. In 2012 he dropped his debut album Make Me Believe In Hope, which drew praise from critics and even caught the attention of legendary singer-songwriter Elton John's. The two subsequently collaborated on the beautifully sad duet "I Wish We Were Leaving", which appeared on Thomas' 2014 sophomore album Life Is Easy. Later that year Thomas joined John as a supporting act on his UK and North American tours, generating rave reviews with his party-starting live performances.
