About

BRUCE MCCULLOCH IN CONCERT:

Canadian comedian Bruce McCulloch has been making audiences laugh with his hilarious brand of dark comedy for more than three decades, drawing audiences in with cynical and side-splitting wit. He's famous for diversifying his sets with doses of live music, making his stand-up a uniquely entertaining treat for fans. McCulloch is a strikingly honest performer who doesn't shy away from discussing dark events in his life, but he always approaches them with a sense of whimsy and wonder. Accenting autobiographical stories with touches of genuine sincerity, Bruce McCulloch is a must-see comedian for ticket buyers looking for laughs.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Bruce McCulloch's big break came in 1984, when he and a group of other Canadian comedians formed the troupe The Kids In The Hall. Revered for its quirky and surreal sketches, the troupe landed a popular television show that aired during the late '80s and early '90s in Canada and the United States. The series spawned a movie, 1996's Brain Candy, as well as a 2010 reunion project titled Death Comes To Town, which McCulloch co-wrote, produced, and starred in. The multi-talented McCulloch has appeared in popular television shows including "Workaholics" and "Arrested Development", written for "Saturday Night Live", and directed the movies "Superstar", "Dog Park", and "Stealing Harvard". He also directed a music video for Tragically Hip's "My Music At Work", which earned him a Best Director award at the 2000 MuchMusic Video Awards. He has recorded two comedy albums, 1995's Shame-Based Man and 2002's Drunk Baby Project, both of which cast light on his impressive fusion of music and comedy. In 2014 McCulloch announced a new project for Rogers TV called "Young Drunk Punk", a show inspired by his own life slated to air in 2015.

    Well worth it.

by Mark Richards on 2024-01-31Algonquin Commons Theatre - Nepean

Funny and touching. Some of Bruce's older work is out of place with his new "personal growth"narrative. He's interesting and funny. A great story teller. Show left me with a fleeting sense of emotional well being. Too bad it couldn't have lasted.

    Fun Time!

Was a really fun show. Bruce is a delight. No complaints about Algonquin Commons Theatre, either- it's not my favourite venue but fine for smaller shows so I like when comedians have their shows there.

Love Bruce in the Kids in the Hall and he did not disappoint on his own. Same great sense of humour and impeccable timing. I saw it with my 24 year-old son (I'm 60) and we both loved it. If you get a chance to see Bruce live do not pass it up!

    Funny & weird, as expected!

by Glenn & Rach on 2024-01-29Algonquin Commons Theatre - Nepean

Bruce stays true to his comedic roots and his gallows humor to interpret life events. We enjoyed this comedic break in our lives to sit and laugh and reflect on life and love.

Bruce is a master story teller, and I was equally touched and in hysterics with his performance. I hope to see him live again and look forward to the new season of Kids in the Hall. #blessed

Bruce and his 1 man show was really a great experience. I've seen him twice now and would love to see him again. A good laugh is good for my soul.

by Brattknee on 2021-11-05Festival Place - Sherwood Park

Bruce is hilarious and we were so excited he was doing a show! We saw kids in the hall live at the Jube when they were in Edmonton last. Bruce’s show was just as funny as the whole crew I hope he comes back again. Festival place is an awesome venue. We sat in a private side railing box and the seats were fantastic
