About

BUCK65 IN CONCERT:

Canadian hip hop artist Buck 65 has been blurring the lines between genres for more than two decades with his ever-evolving sound. From his early experimental outings to his more recent folk and blues-tinged work, Buck 65 has remained a compelling and passionate performer, as beloved for his live shows as he is for lyrically dense tracks like "The Centaur" and "Sebutone Def". With his 14th album dropping in 2014, the eclectic two-time Juno winner has fans eagerly awaiting his next round of tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Nova Scotia-born Buck 65, a.k.a. Richard Terfry, discovered hip hop in his early teens when he climbed a tree in his backyard to intercept the fledgling signal of a local college radio station. After teaching himself to rap, DJ, and produce tracks, he began hosting his own show on that same college station while releasing material on a variety of small independent labels. He began to gain serious traction in 1996 with the albums Weirdo Magnet and Vertex, but it was the release of Man Overboard in 2001 that really put him on the map as one of avant-garde hip hop's brightest young talents. In the mid-'00s Buck's sound veered from traditional hip hop towards the folk and electronica-oriented sound heard on 2003's Talkin' Honky Blues, which won a Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year. A self-assured and disarmingly charming performer, Buck continues to impress on his must-see tours.

Buck 65 is worth a whole lot more!

Freaking awesome show - I wouldn't hesitate to pick up tickets to see Buck 65 again and encourage everyone to try out a show, regardless of what kind of music they would typically pick to spend money on. As I sat there, I couldn't help but imagine myself in a Las Vegas club watching - I'm positive he'd draw a crowd when word got out, wherever he decided to tour to. Can't wait to see him again :)

Love Buck 65. Wish I could have been dancing, felt weird to stay seated. He rallied and put on a wicked performance.

    Nothing can stop the Buck

by MartinL on 2014-11-26National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Buck 65 put on a fun show despite his cold and the weird vibe in the audience. Because I was part of that audience, I have to say that it is difficult to give off a good vibe when sitting in a stadium-like auditorium. Undeterred, Buck went through his set with gusto and humour. A great and original artist.

    Buck 65 is genius

by novakster on 2014-11-25National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

When you consider how rich an experience one performer can give - Mr. Terfry has set the bar pretty high. I have never known a rapper to constantly link so many rhymes together that actually have deep meaning - while all the while having fun with it. His BEATS and samples are sonic, crunchy and brilliant. His Swedish sweety added a very nice vibe to the proceedings. Fantastic stage presence and dancing - including the lounge/Murphy/Bowie/Iggy/hand-jive schtick. Wicked and weird ! - PN

    What an Amazing Person

    by Paul123 on 2014-11-18Pyramid Cabaret - Winnipeg

I'm new to the rap/mc/spoken word scene but Rich Terfry (Buck 65) is a charmer. The whole set was smooth and fun. He doesn't take himself too seriously but when he needs to he does it so profoundly. I'm glad he tours Canada so frequently cause I will see him again.

SC MIRA blew me away! Terrific way to start off the night and, of course, Buck 65 was amazing, as usual! Loved when they all played together at the end of the show!! :D :D

Buck 65, Legendary for a Reason.

by LittleMissMachete on 2011-07-25Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

What a performer! Not only his songs are fantastic, but his show is an experience worth repeating. A great storyteller. Witty and funny, Buck 65 shares his unbelievable talent and passion with every word he says. Add to that the mesmerizing voice of Marnie Herald and you'll not only be entertained, but your spirit lifted. Buck 65 is legendary for a reason. I liked him before, but after seeing his show, I just love him now.
