About

In 2012, rap legend Busta Rhymes made a triumphant return to the game with two Grammy nominations for "Look At Me Now," his chart-topping collaboration with young R&B star Chris Brown. Rhymes continued to assert his preeminence on the Superstars of Hip Hop Tour in 2013, delivering songs like "Kill Dem" and "Respect My Conglomerate" with his signature machine gun speed and entertaining ticket buyers with his outré style and seizure-inspired dance moves. Since signing with Cash Money Records in 2011, Rhymes has been busier than ever, releasing a spate of successful singles including "Twerk It" featuring Nicki Minaj from his 2014 album E.L.E.2 (Extinction Level Event 2).

Rhymes's idiosyncratic style suits his Jamaican heritage and Brooklyn upbringing. After signing to Elektra Records at Just 17, Rhymes found himself collaborating with the biggest names in the industry, gaining notoriety for his impressive verses on tracks by A Tribe Called Quest, Boyz II Men, and Mary J. Blige. In 1995, director John Singleton cast Rhymes in the film Higher Learning, but the following year would prove the most pivotal in his rise to stardom.  His 1996 debut album The Coming was an overnight success, landing at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and earning Rhymes his breakout hit with "Woo-Hah!! (Got You All in Check)," which was accompanied by one of the most iconic music videos of the decade. He would go on to release seven more Top 10 albums throughout the '90s and 2000's, including The Big Bang in 2006, his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Rhymes continues to bring his outrageous style, leftfield wit and virtuoso delivery to his live performances, building anticipation for his live concerts in support of 2014's E.L.E.2 (Exctinction Level Event 2).

    Busted

    by Toronto on 2023-11-29

Saw Busta open for 50 at Budweiser Stage. He was ok. He insulted the front row sections on the main floor, for not being energetic enough. I had to wonder if he knew how much people paid for those tickets! To humiliate them for his own validation. Toronto wasn’t impressed. I will not be back for Busta.

    Incredibly disappointing.

    by D. S. on 2023-09-09

His set lasted 30 minutes. 30 minutes! With the catalogue he has available for him to do such a short set was a major let down. He did a bunch of verses of his songs, but no full songs. I've been waiting since the 90's to see Busta and this is what I got. A major letdown for sure.

by JordanR on 2018-07-30REBEL - Toronto

LIL Kim didn't even show up Busta didnt come out until 2am.. Didn't do a sound check before the show and had to fix microphone through set list. then started and stopped to talk. Me and my friend walked out. Such a shame was looking forward to this. Worst show I have ever seen in my whole life.

    Busta was sooooooo late!!!!

by Jayessdee on 2018-07-30REBEL - Toronto

Yes, once Busta finally got on stage at 2AM, the show was great. BUT making the audience wait that long is unacceptable. Ticketmaster informed us the show would start at 12:30 am, and nothing happened until 2AM. The DJs were killing time with tracks that did not hype up the crowd, save for the 10 min dancehall set. Many people left out of boredom and frustration. Lil Kim did not show either, and I think the ticket price was way too high and the show organizers absolutely did not deliver what they promised. I was horribly disappointed in the quality of what Frontline Union Entertainment put on the stage on Friday night and I feel like it was a waste of money. The hype men were trying their best to keep the crowd going, but everyone could tell even they too were struggling to keep themselves going. There’s only so much hype man one can take when there was nothing hype happening on stage. Thankfully Busta was great, but I don’t think it was worth what Frontline Union charged for tickets, especially since Lil Kim didn’t even make it across the border to get to the concert venue. I’m sure people in the crowd would have appreciated hearing that update. Frontline Union owes everyone who attended an apology and some kind of compensation. Step up your game, Frontline Union; you brought shame to Busta’s legacy. Quality over quantity; nobody needs to pay over $70 to hear up and coming DJs still figuring out their set on stage and random people showing off their Caribana costumes. We paid for a night of Busta and Lil Kim and got 45 min of Busta at last call. Frontline Union, you need to step up your game for real.

    Could've been better

    by ally2982 on 2018-07-30REBEL - Toronto

Since Lil Kim couldn't show up due to weather conditions the show was delayed by a lot and was filled with a bunch of nonsense! The night started off well but then the MC and dj started to get repetitive and become boring, and there was some caribbana appreciation segment where girls in costume came out and danced taking up more time. When Busta finally hit the stage he had an hour to perform and most of that hour was taken up by technical difficulties. His mic wouldn't work and the level of sound he wanted wasn't right so he didn't do much until they got it right! Busta is a good artist but the experience did turn me off seeing him again.

Busta is getting a little fat and lazy. His set was only an hour or so, but was definitely solid. "Gimme some more" was mind blowing!! (reminiscent of younger energetic Busta). Interacted with the crowd a lot too, which was cool.

I would see him again in a heartbeat!

by Jyashina on 2010-08-19Edmonton Events Centre - Edmonton

He was absolutely amazing! He definitely knows how to work the crowd and just be amazing as he always is in his music videos. Busta was so nice he even signed autographs at the end of his show, unfortunately I didn't get one but it was still a awesome show and I would go again in a heartbeat! Come back to CANADA BUSTA!
