    Butthole Surfers still got it!

by pleen on 2009-10-13Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

After twenty years, the Butthole Surfers can still rock the house! Amazing guitar as usual from Paul Leary, solid bass and drum lines, and Gibby can still belt them out!

BHS older, mellower - but in a good way...

by jonottanyeah on 2009-10-13Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

last time I saw these guys was in the early 90's at the PNE. Gibby smashed every bottle in a case of beer one by one on either by headbutting it out of the air or punching it mid toss. The guitarist would hold his breath till he turned purple. And they sounded much closer to Ministry than Ween or the Flaming Lips like they did last night. Which is great. Aforementioned bands were certainly hugely influenced by the Buttholes and it was cool to see that side of their act. It wasn't boring or slow or a bunch ballads mind you - they still rocked out but in more of a wine and dope way than an acid and well, acid...way. Psychic Ills were amazing - I hope they come back too!

    The Surfers Were Deadly

by CreepyThoughts on 2009-10-05The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

This band can really put on a show.... no breaks between songs, played something from all their CD's and cranked it for an hour and a half.. NICE!

Hopefully they don't wait another decade before coming 'round again.
