    Le Cabaret was disappointing.

by Ticatoc on 2013-12-09Theatre du Casino du Lac-Leamy - GATINEAU

The actors seemed detached from their roles. The choice of songs did not do justice to the singers, especially to Miss Boisjolie. The story seemed stretched by moments and the audience became fidgety. Nevertheless, the musicians occupied a good part of the stage. They were dressed for the part and helped recreate the atmosphere of Berlin in the 1940's.

    Boisjoli perfect performance

by Thorbird on 2013-05-06Theatre du Casino du Lac-Leamy - GATINEAU

I was not surprised by Boisjoli's perfect performance. Brigitte was Sally Bowles. The interpretation was as real as her tattoos. Luc Guérin was authentic. His effervescence permeated the whole production. Poor Éric Paulhus was eclipsed by both Boisjoli & Gérin. What else could he do but be there and do what he does best. The Orchestra was very upbeat and I really enjoyed their superb musical verve and frolicking after the intermission. It will not be forgotten soon. The musical arrangements by Patricia Deslauriers sealed the performance tightly into a perfect presentation. Émilie Begin sang her solo convincingly. I can't remember the words or the pertinence of the song but it was candy for the soul. Thank You Émilie All other supporting actors & actresses played their role very well but I was mostly impressed by the musical aspect of the show, therein lays the uni-dimensional review.

    Cabaret in Gatineau

It was a good quality show with good dancers and singers but without the WOW at the end.

    Well done Cabaret cast!

by cnantel on 2013-04-30Theatre du Casino du Lac-Leamy - GATINEAU

After the initial shock that the show was in French, I was able to put that aside and enjoy a suprisingly wonderful performance! With just minimal changes to the script, they stayed true to the original and Brigitte Boisjolie knocked it out of the park with her rendition of the song Cabaret! What an amazing voice!

Cabaret - this title should be changed as this was

by Benjef on 2011-06-07Hamilton Place Theatre - Hamilton

The advertising of this show was very deceiving as we thought this was a Play from the Movie cabaret . This was very disappointing . This was a Childrens recital and not been available oon Ticketmaster. I am sure some of the performances were very good for children but this was not for adults to enjoy. We left at intermission as there was so much diturbances you could not see half the perfomances with so much inter action with the parents up and down in their seats . Love children but this was very unorganized ........

    great leads!

by mjyole on 2010-05-06Hamilton Place Theatre - Hamilton

I have seen Cabaret 3 times previously. This was, by far, the best performance with a different spin on the ending without being as graphic. The performers who played Sally and the Emcee were absolutely FANTASTIC! True vocal talent! Great performance from the rest of the cast as well. A job well done!

Performances good; show not so much

by KABK on 2010-05-06Hamilton Place Theatre - Hamilton

The performances in Cabaret were excellent; great voices and acting, dancing was good. The story itself was not overly entertaining. The first act dragged but left you with a cliffhanger; but the second act didn't capitalize on it. The actors did what they could with what they were given, but it was not an event I would recommend

Leaves a bit to be desired.

by Zachary123 on 2010-05-06Hamilton Place Theatre - Hamilton

Cabaret has been my favourite musical for a long time now. i've had the opportunity to see the production several times and have played the Emcee myself on stage. This production had its creative strengths. A good use of minimal sets and props, and a strong Emcee which is important. The constant use of "haze" rolling across the stage was unnecessary and even distracting at time. The light was sparse, poorly organized, and seemed to be used with out purpose in spots. The biggest disappointment for this show is the spastic, sketch comedy-esque Sally Bowls. She was an absolute nightmare. The actress did not have the ability to suck you into her world; she had no depth. The choreography was weak throughout most of the show, yet the band was well arranged. Still my favourite musical; however, this production is like sitting through a high school production.
