Until a month ago I was unaware of who Calypso Rose was. The singing was just OK. Those around me who seemed to know her appreciated her more than I did. I thought, based on you tube that she would have backup singers. She did not. A 79 old person wiggling her fanny every 5 minutes must be a tradition in Trinidad-Tobago.
The opening band Koko was a great start to a wonderful night of music. Calypso Rose had every one dancing throught her performance. She was a bundle of energy and also shared her wisdom. Her music was uplifting, I bought her CD and it reminds me of a wonderful night.
I have never attended a concert at the NAC that felt like a Party! This young woman, Queen of Calypso, knows how to capture her audience! She generated a lot of High energy...& had the entire audience united by her rhythm. Kudos and thanks to Rose and to Kobo Town for an awesome evening of Calypso and Dance!
Calypso Rose is a Legend. At 77 years of age, it is commendable that she is still performing, however the quality of her show reflects her past health issues and memory lapses. Love her and her music, but she has earned her rest.

Absolutely wonderful performance by Calypso Rose! Her joyous spirit is contagious!!! One criticism is that she should not have been on the same bill as Socalled. The genres are much too different and, frankly, unnecessary cursing in front of calypso royalty was hard to stomach.
