    Awesome Show!

by Chillysogood on 2020-01-21National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Fantastic performance and incredible entertainment. Great ability to engage the crowd along with a second to none piano talent. Enjoyed my first show at this venue too and would definitely head back!

    Talented pianist, good composer

by Manu on 2020-01-21National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

CG is impossible to classify. He is classical and jazz and also a rapper. Some of his compositions are great, others are just good. As a rapper, he can be vulgar. Overall, he is a remarkable artist.

    A true entertainer

by C&J on 2020-01-21National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Second time we've been to see Chilly Gonzales at the NAC. The first performance blew us away and this second show, 18 months later, was even better! A blend of classical piano with rap and humor thrown in. His performance of Knight Moves was riveting. Will definitely be attending another Chilly concert if he comes back to Ottawa!

    Fabulously enjoyable!

by SensGal on 2018-10-25National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

A beautiful change from traditional piano. Based on You Tube, I expected a little more "stand-up comedy", but it was a lovely balance. Cello overwhelmed piano at times and music quite similar, otherwise would have given it 5 stars. Amazing talent - most enjoyable!!

    Seeing Gonzales is something special...

by Chimneysweep on 2012-11-23Wintergarden Theatre - Toronto

There are a number of musicians and piano performers out there, and many of them do a fine job. People have varying opinions about technical acument, the amount of heart and emotion the pianist puts into their work - that's usually the standard analysis. Gonzales ranks highly on all those fronts and brings other very different elements to the show. I'm a passive piano fan. I like it, but I don't lose my mind over it. Gonzales makes his entire show captivating because not only is the music tremendous, he is a born entertainer. He realizes that letting us into his mind and discussing and demonstrating his development process is fascinating and entertaining. When someone is as good as this guy, I am blown away to learn how he thinks, what inspires him, and how he creates for himself and audience. Fantastic

If ever you get the chance to see this man entertain, educate and take your breath away, then do it. Totally surprising, ingenious and very funny. Highly recommended.

I had high expectations going into this concert, but he surprised me in every possible way with his performance. He was charismatic, entertaining, and his performance showcased his virtuosic talent perfectly. I will definitely see him again!

    Chilly Gonzales

by Vinman26 on 2012-11-10Winter Garden Theatre - Toronto

Despite a sold out show, Chilly does not have the household name he deserves. He might just be Canada's finest living performer ... and I mean overall performer. He isn't just a musical genius, but his entire persona, humor, insight and breadth of styles removes any possibility of categorizing him as just a single thing. But when is does come to being a piano player, his intimacy with the instrument is beyond obvious. Just being a virtuoso seems to bore Chilly, so he constantly challenges himself with unique tasks like rapping to 3-time, or hammering the keys like he is playing bongos on the piano, or using the piano cover as a drum. Gonzo truly is the musical genius he sarcastically claims he is.
