About

CHRISTINE AND THE QUEENS IN CONCERT:

Christine and the Queens are already synthpop royalty in their native France, and it's only a matter of time before the rest of the world bows down. Androgynous project mastermind Héloïse Letissier is a visionary pop auteur in the vein of legends like David Bowie and Grace Jones, and her manifold talents – pitch-perfect singing, razor-sharp dancing, and boundary-pushing style – are on full display at the group's live shows. From the moment she takes the stage it's clear Letissier was born to perform, and the radiant energy she brings to the table is shared by her talented backing band and army of popping-and-locking backup dancers. Sleek, synth-soaked gems like "iT" and "Tilted" are punctuated by dazzling light shows and pulse-pounding choreography breaks, and through it all Letissier shines like a beacon, crackling with passion while she dances her heart out and casts her powerful voice over the crowd. For a vibrant and soulful synthpop party that pulls out all the stops, Christine and the Queens are not to be missed.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Héloïse Letissier studied theater in Lyon before a fateful trip to London sparked her interest in making music. While there she fell in with a group of drag artists who encouraged her to start singing after hearing her hum, and before long she had crowned herself Christine and the Queens – a nod to the drag queens who inspired her creative rebirth. She released her debut EP Miséricorde to French markets in 2011, following up with a string of increasingly polished EPs that earned her critical acclaim and supporting slots on tour with Lykke Li and Lilly Wood and the Prick. By 2013 she was climbing the mainstream pop charts in France, and in 2014 she won Best Female Artist at the Victoires de la Musique (the French equivalent of the Grammys). Her full-length debut, 2014's Chaleur Humaine, cracked the Top 10 in several European countries, and in 2016 it was repackaged as a self-titled debut and released in the US. Since then she's stunned stateside audiences with performances on late night TV and at major festivals like Coachella, earning an ever-growing fanbase that can't wait to catch her on tour.

Christine puts on an incredible show!

by Ruthers on 2016-10-26Metropolis - Montreal

Seeing Christine in French was a spectacular gift. She brings the same humor, power and compelling performance as her English shows. I love how she turns on a dime from a funny, sweet Chaplinesque figure to a powerful person easily commanding a huge stage with her tiny frame. Not to mention the incredible dancing, her backing dancers are brilliant, and her lone-little-boy-and-a-microphone performances are equally spellbinding. I've seen Christine multiple times now and I am amazed every time. Catch her while you can!

A good show but nothing more...

I think she used too many gimmicks for her voice. And I am still wondering about the meaning of her show.
