Evening of laughs with a purpose

by RideauSky on 2014-02-11National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Having booked our tickets weeks ago coupled with a very busy schedule I had not reviewed who was in the line up of comediens or the purpose of the event. My wife and I were very pleased with how the event was hosted and how the approach towad bullying was handled. On top of that we had lots of great laughs and when I glanced at my wife a couple of times she was laughing so hard she had tears running down her cheek. Hats off and congratulations to Rick Mercer for his lifetime achievement award. The only thing which would have made the evening better would have been to have Rick give a performance at some point during the evening.

    My stomach is still aching!!

by CP1234 on 2014-02-10Algonquin College Commons Theatre - Ottawa

I took my daughter and her teenage friend as they had never seen Improv before, we howled with laughter and had a very enjoyable time. Would love to see more of this type of event, because laughter is a really great medicine. How appropriate that the event benefitted Mental Health.

Fantastic, I brought 3 friends with me who had not heard of the program on CBC. We all loved the show. Laugh out Loud is therapeutic, laughter is the best medicine indeed. Good to see that faces of the artists I only know by their voices.

Canadian Comedy Gala with a blip

by GrandFromage on 2013-02-11National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Excellent evening of fun funny comedy with a really interesting array and unique approach to Mental Health through comedians and their personal struggles...BUT it got far to personal & awkward when Mike MacDonald's award was presented...although poignant & touching, seeing him very ill and in obvious distress took the complete wind out of all out sails...crowd & comedians !! There is a time and place...and this was not a Hep C fundraiser.

    Cracking up the Capital

by Johutch on 2013-02-11National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

This is my second year attending the cracking up the capital. I really enjoyed all the comedians. I especially liked that they touched upon their own struggles with mental illness. Fantastic evening looking forward to attending in 2014.
