    First timer enjoyed the derby

by Snitram on 2010-11-16Winnipeg Convention Centre - Winnipeg

Not knowing what to expect this was a great event. There were clear instructions on how the game was played, everyone seemed to have fun, no rowdy or annoying people and the venue looked like it was well attended by avid fans. Go - see the next derby and see these girls duke it out.

    Crushes & Carnage was excellent!

by crushem on 2010-11-15Winnipeg Convention Centre - Winnipeg

Loved the quality of play, the competitiveness and the game in general. Looks difficult and painful but enjoy watching. The venue is wonderful as well. Easy access and lots of room. Loved it all.

    Roller derby - so so

by Marlo76 on 2010-11-15Winnipeg Convention Centre - Winnipeg

Well, Went in with an open mind. This was my first roller derby. I was hoping to see a raised track. I understand that this was a flat track competition but I think it would have been more exciting. the game itself was pretty boring. it did not seem that intense. The MC's for the event did well to keep it going but their mic's were super loud. It was unnecessary to have it their mic's that loud. Will I go again. Probably not.

    Excellent amateur sports!

by Laure on 2010-11-15Winnipeg Convention Centre - Winnipeg

The danger of amateur sports is that if it is too athletic it becomes inaccessible (like the Olympics, which are fun but not something you could imagine yourself participating in) but if it is not athletic enough it just isn't entertaining. The WRDL finds a happy balance between these extremes. I brought my 11yr old daughter and my 14yr old niece and we had a blast supporting local amateur sports!
