Have you ever tried to dance on a portable dance floor, in heels, that has a 4" drop on all sides? Have you ever watched movies about an elegant New Year's Eve where folks are dressed in suits and gown? Have you ever listened to a big band's rendition of Moonlight Serenade and said: "I want to dance to that someday?" It was all so hopelessly predictable in this modern world. The men were dressed in khaki's and golf shirts, the women in work-a-day blouses and slacks. They looked like they were celebrating the 19th hole not New Year's. There was no drummer with the band, how can you dance to a band that has canned percussion? You can't...it was so dull and lifeless! The lighting in the ballroom was glaring, the dirty dishes were left on the tables and the floor, on the way to the washrooms, was like ice (laminate) I almost slipped and fell twice. All-in-all it was an event that I looked forward to for months and it was a bust.
