DAMIEN RICE IN CONCERT:

Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice began his career in 1991 with indie-rock band Juniper. After the group disbanded in 1998, Rice traveled around Europe for the next year before returning to Dublin to pursue a solo career. Over the course of 12-years Rice has released two full-length albums, two live recordings and an EP. He is best known for his 2002 debut O which was certified Gold in the U.S., selling approximately two million copies worldwide, and featuring the songs “Volcano,” “Cannonball,” and “Blower’s Daughter,” the central pieces of music in Mike Nichols’ Oscar-nominated film Closer. My Favourite Faded Fantasy is Rice’s first album in 8 years and was produced by Rick Rubin and Rice.

    Damien Rice, likely one of the best live acts EVER

    I have seen a lot of artists live but this show is one of the best I have ever had the pleasure to attend and likely won't be usurped. Damien Rice is a true artist, how one man with a guitar could envelope Massey Hall so completely and deliver a musical experience that invokes such emotion in each person in attendance is beyond me. My friend had not been familiar with Damien when I brought her along and is now a dedicated fan. I am literally counting the seconds until I see him again. Rue the day if you miss an opportunity to see him live!

    Damien Rice is the musical pot-o-gold at the end of the rainbow. Firstly, I must apologize to Damien. A tourist passing Massey Hall asked me "who is this performer"? "An Irish folk singer" was my spur of the moment response. Walking out of the theater that evening I came to the mind altering conclusion, he is SOOO much more. He is a lyrically brilliant vocalist who captivates the audience with his masterful guitar playing and memorable melodies from start to finish. Love, hate, entrapment, fear, loneliness, there are no lyrical boundaries, no walls to restrain, no box to contain the emotional ride. His show is intimate and interactive. Vocally, he can be soft and melodic, hitting high notes with unrestrained ease, and powerful and explosive. His playlist included the songs from his latest album My Favorite Faded Fantasy as well as faves like Volcanos, Cannonball, and Blowers Daughter.

    Best show ever!

    I'm in my early 40's. I've seen alot of concerts. Funny enough the last one was James Blunt at the same place...what a difference!!! Damien Rice is an excellent entertainer and most of all musician. He is amazing. He came up on stage alone with his guitar and he fullfilled the entire room with his voice and music. Truly the best artist there is. He played for over 3 hours. A very generous guy. I would buy tickets for his show anytime!

    Unbelievable. I saw him 8 years ago in Glasgow, Scotland at the SECC, and jumped at the chance to see him again in Toronto. He is the most talented musician I've ever seen - and so full of raw emotion when he sings. If you ever get a chance, you HAVE to see him live, it's an unforgettable experience. I just saw him last night and this morning bought my pre-sale ticket to his next show in April 2015! Can't get enough of him!
