Unfortunately it was a small crowd who attended this vintage Dan Hill show. He speaks briefly about the origins of his songs and then performs them beautifully. They have so much meaning. His accompanying artists on the piano and vocals were second to none and blended in perfectly with his songs. It's a performance anyone will enjoy.
What an amazing songwriter and singer. He played his hitswe know him for, but then also all of the hits he is now writing for other people such as Celine Dion, Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, Harry Belanfonte, Britney Spears, etc. Plus he tells such interesting stories throughout the concert. I saw him in 1975 at his first time in Hamilton Place, when he was 19 and I was 15. I waited for him after the concert with a friend. He came out barefoot, invited me and my friend into his dressing room, signed our programs, chatted with us, and asked us if we wanted a bite of the apple he was eating. Now in 2013 me and the same friend waited for him after the concert, he again came out, signed our CDs, chatted with us, and told us we hadn't changed a bit since 1975 (we had a great laugh over that one). An amazing night of going back in time!
Dan sang well, interesting stories between songs. Hasn't lost his touch!
Song selection was good. The storytelling just added to the songs. Heart felt stories explained the songs
It was time well spent. It was very interesting to learn the story behind the songs and even just getting to know Dan Hill better.
Intimate venue, just a fantastically wonderful time with lots of stories and background on the songs along with some seriously heartfelt moments. I can't wait to see him again!
It was the first time I had ever seen Dan Hill, we have some of his music and we really enjoy listening to it. His performance was just so amazing! If Dan Hill would come back to Ottawa tomorrow I would buy tickets to go and see him again. We bought one of his CD's and we listen to it all the time. I would recommend to anyone to go and see him, it is a performance you don't want to miss. The atmosphere was perfect for an evening out, it was relaxing and entertaining.
I greatly enjoyed the concert which was laid back and very enjoyable. Dan Hill is a great musician, well worth seeing and hearing.
We really loved the show. It was nice to hear about his life story etc between the songs. It made it much more intimate.
Beautiful Songs, Beautiful Stories behind each song, and Great VOICE!! The small venue was PACKED! I have never seen this room so full! I had seen Dan Hill around 1976 or 1977, when my son was only 2. His voice is better than ever!~!! I brought my son who is now 40 to see him. He really enjoyed the history of each song and the night was a great night for everyone there. I would go see him again!!! Many people (the younger generation) probably do not realize what a talent he is!! and that he even made a song with Celine Dion!! a big hit!! His father also has a great place in our Canadian History, which I only learned at the concert!! very interesting!!
