    Attell was perfect for Commodore

by IrishWolfe on 2010-01-18Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

The show and the venue were great. The fact you could have some food with a few beers and watch a comedian of Attell's quality was Awesome. Heard some new jokes from him that were hillarious. Recommend going to his show.

Dave Attell - Commodore Ballroom Vancouver Jan 15

by CloverComedy on 2010-01-18Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

This was the first time we saw Dave Attell live. He was terrible - the opening act, a local comedian, was so much better. Dave dressed like a slob - his jeans were falling off (someone yelled "pull your jeans up" during the show. His jokes were not funny - maybe he was having a bad night, but his material and delivery were terrible. I would not recommend this show to anyone - save your money and don't support this guy. Look at this web site - his pics with other famous comedians are all dated - Dane Cook looks like he is in high school. The only positive thing is we only spent $20.00 per ticket - I guess you get what you pay for and when it comes to Dave's comedy show even $20.00 was too much. The final bad decision was sitting in the front row - it was hard for us to walk out in the middle of the show - we were forced to stay until the bitter end. The lukewarm response by the crowd at the end was a mixture of those that liked Dave and those that were glad the pain was over. Dave announced he would meet fans on the street - hopefully he was able to find a few to chat with!

Dave Attell is one of the best

by Rockadoodle on 2010-01-16Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I think the most impressive/amazing part of the show was Dave's ability to tell jokes I had never heard before. He clearly is one of the best writer's on the scene. I follow all of his work and have heard every dvd/cd/youtube clip he has around and I heard a total of 2 minutes of re-done material vs. stuff i'd never heard. His ability to flip flop around topics, interrupt jokes to take pictures with hot girls was extremely impressive. The only problem with the show was the idiots that kept screaming for him to tell jokes that everyone knew and thankfully he refused, citing "Good thing I write shit, because i'm way ahead of you fuckers". I would definately go see Dave Attell anytime he is close because I imagine it will always be new material and his delivery and demeanor throughout is extremely entertaining. The opening act Graham Clark was a pleasant surprise also, I had seen him many years before when his act was more raw. He has clearly stepped it up, refined his jokes and had a really great opening set. I was thoroughly impressed.
