Dave Chappelle Live Performance and Tour
Dave Chappelle, mastermind behind sketch comedy goldmine Chappelle's Show, made a triumphant return to stand-up comedy in 2013. While he's beloved for his famous impersonations of Rick James and Prince, Chappelle doesn't rely on old material for his stand-up act, treating fans to an all-original show featuring extensive improvisation as he interacts with audiences. At his 2013 performances on The Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival, which he co-headlined with Flight of the Conchords, Chappelle had fans rolling on the floor, building anticipation for his highly coveted 2014 tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT
Born David Khari Webber Chappelle in Washington, D.C., Dave Chappelle studied theatre arts in high school before moving to New York City to pursue standup comedy. Despite getting booed off stage at the Apollo Theater's infamous "Amateur Night," he remained resilient, going on to make a name for himself on the New York comedy circuit. Following several successful film appearances in the '90s, including a starring role in 1998 cult classic Half Baked, Chappelle debuted his namesake sketch comedy show on Comedy Central in 2003, finding both critical and commercial success. In 2006 he released Dave Chappelle's Block Party, a concert film set in Brooklyn featuring performances by Kanye West, The Roots, and a temporarily-reunited Fugees.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY
"Funniest live performance I've witnessed to date. You will be quoting Chappelle after the show. I was laughing so hard that it started to hurt. Great show from start to finish."
"Dave...he is a comedic genius and one of the best ever. He was amazing and I wished I could have gotten in line and gone to the second show!"
"He was hilarious. Talked about some of his history and was not afraid to get the audience involved. I had a great time."
Loved Dave! Have seen him before and he never disappoints! His openers were hilarious too! Great night out!
The show was great. Initially before the show started there was music. It was a great vibe. Three comedians came on did their thing and then Dave Chappelle showed up to perform his piece. The only complaint I had was the sound because it was not very loud and with people talking around you it was very hard to hear it sometimes. But other than that it was great locking up your phone's was not a big deal. There were areas outside of the show where you could unlock your phone and use it. But if you can't live without your phone for 3 hours, you may want to not attend because they will kick you out from the show and it was zero tolerance if you got caught.
Dave was in his usual element, Fire! I totally enjoyed it
Not his best show but still glad I went. The first 3 comedians were on fire. However Dave didn’t crush it like usual.
Dave Chappelle was funny AF! He did a great job getting his great views on humanity across in a comedic way!
from the start to end amazing show didn't stop laughing from first act to Dave. Wow i was happily over impressed!!
The biggest issue was getting in to Scotiabank arena. Lineups were insane. We were directed to a different lineup. Almost at the end of it and a security guard told me my purse was too big (I’ve bright that purse to multiple events and never an issue) and needed the X-ray lineup! So we had to go back to the enormous line we were in before! Don’t the staff know what line has the X-ray and what can pass?
I waited until almost showtime to buy my ticket, and yet I somehow ended up with one of the best seats in the house. Right next to the cameraman filming the show. If they use this show for a Netflix special, my laugh will be all over it! Dave was amazing, peeps behind me were acting offended, like they didn't know who they were going to see?! Relax! You're up front witnessing the GOAT in action! Most amazing start to my year.
There's a reason why this man is called the GOAT. Hilarious line up as well. Can't wait for the next show in Toronto!
Wow, that was by for the best comedy show I have ever seen. Dave Chappelle was truly amazing !!!
