Amazing Awesome Concert.......The whole bands talent was off the charts. Especially, drummer Steve DiStanislao...
Crosby and his excellent band played a surprisingly great show. Crosby’s voice in fine form. Genuinely appeared to be enjoying himself.
Although I know all performers want to play their new songs and sell that music, a long time performer like David Crosby has to play some of the old songs we all know. There were none played. Speaking to others at the break they felt the same way and one third empty seats at the end proved it so. The band was great but the repeated anti government stances were tedious. We paid good money and although the music was good we did expect some of the old songs he has written and made famous.
I got shivers while he played Guinnevere despite being surrounded by 50+ men with band tees and ponytails five stars!!
My first time at The Danforth Music Hall, and it is a great venue (but tickets looked like it was concert start at 7 PM, when it was doors open - DRS). Only 1,145 seats and David was happy to banter with the crowd. If you were looking for C,S & N music, then you were disappointed. If you wanted to hear an acoustical set from David (with his son accompanying on piano), playing mostly his later and upcoming albums, then you like me would be very happy. Played over two hours with only a short break between sets.
After seeing David play many time with CSN and CSNY it was a real treat to see how powerful and melodic his voice really is. I love his first and last solo albums and he played several selections from them. His library is so vast that it would be impossible to play all of my favourites but I was really pleased with the selection on the playlist. James Raymond was outstanding in the pianist role and background harmonies.... Graham who ? As with all previous concerts there is the dialogue about politics which always is distorted when looking through a crystal. However it is his beliefs that make him the songwriter that it he is. Also 'Laughing' and the story behind the connection with George Harrison.
What a beautiful and fantastic concert. David has lost nothing in his musical and vocal skills. He is an amazing talent, and also a very entertaining stand-up comic, often framing the upcoming tune in a background story. His sone James Raymond provided beautiful piano accompaniment throughout the evening. Thanks, Dave. It was wonderful!
The crowd was weird for this one....the vibe was weird. While he can sing and play guitar beautifully, his person is just unpleasant. One side note, his piano playing son was fantastic!!
Treat yours ears, and your soul, to a much needed night out. I couldn't wait to get to my computer the next day and buy a bunch of his older music that i was not very familiar with. You will too.
The David Crosby concert at the Danforth Music Hall was a little disappointing. In the first half his guitar playing was barely noticeable. Just playing a couple of chords. He spoke more than I like. Unlike most acts from his generation, he barely touched his older material. If you are expecting to hear material from CSN&Y, you will be disappointed. He only played a couple of songs.
