About

Beloved British singer-songwriter Dido continues to enchant fans around the world with her soothing vocals and inspiring collection of pop hits. Her soft voice and humble stage presence belie her status as one of Britain's most successful female artists of all time, and her unassuming demeanor is the perfect complement to sensitive tracks like "Thank You" and "White Flag". A gifted performer who's shared the stage with artists as wide-ranging as Eminem and Santana, Dido always brings the house down with her thoughtful songs and passionate delivery on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Dido was born Dido Florian de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong in London on Christmas day 1971. She was interested in music from an early age, and after stealing a recorder from school at age five her parents enrolled her in a music program. After learning the piano and violin she began to record demos with her producer brother Rollo, and before long she had landed a deal with Arista Records. She made her album debut in 1999 with No Angel, an international sensation that topped the charts in five countries and launched her to superstardom with hit singles like "Here with Me" and "Thank You". Her 2003 sophomore album Life for Rent was another success, topping charts around the world and going on to sell more than 13 million copies. After releasing her Grammy-nominated third album Safe Trip Home, Dido took a hiatus from the spotlight. She returned in 2013 with her fourth album Girl Who Got Away, a critical and commercial success that she supported with another acclaimed world tour.

Thrilling to hear that incredible voice live

by Andrew Ettinger on 2019-07-20Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

I have waited years for the opportunity to see Dido in concert and this did not disappoint. In addition to playing so many great songs from her new long-awaited album Still On My Mind, she played lots of classics as well. The band, as expected were all amazingly talented and as a result the music was amazing. Loved it, was worth the wait.

    OK experience

    by D. L. on 2019-07-05Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

I really enjoyed the opening act, she was very interesting and as I was somewhat unfamiliar with her music/her it exposed me to her musical talents. I was a little irritated by the couple immediately in front of me, as they kept talking during the entire show, and had their heads together a lot of the time. As the seats are staggered, so the people sitting behind can see between the people seated in front, when the couple would lean towards each other, I couldn't see anything! I know it isn't something anyone can do anything about, but I found it irritating. I mostly enjoyed the show, I found a couple of times that Dido's voice pitch changed or she hit the wrong notes, which I found jarring. I understand that she took over 15 yrs off while raising her child, but maybe some more vocal exercises would have been in order before touring...just a thought, not a criticism. I really enjoyed the song she wrote while she was pregnant and sang at the concert dedicated to and for her child. It is a beautiful homage.

We both absolutely LOVED this show!

by weezer on 2019-07-02Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

What a treat to have Ria Mae open the show - wow! Dido's performance was brillant! Only downside was the sound techs who did a very poor job... Dido's voice was often drowned out so badly, that I often couldn't hear Dido... Why can't the sound techs get the job done right? SOOOOO irritiating!

    Dido Bass hurts

by Sandy on 2019-07-02Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

Dido was great. Receiving new CD in advance made for a better concert. Great new CD. Sang along. Unfortunately bass guitar was painful even with my earplugs. The orpheum shook. I felt tension and pain for a couple of songs. I am older but music should be pleasure not pain.

    Good show

by David on 2019-07-02Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

She was good for saying she had been away for a long time. My wife and I both really enjoyed the show. I was glad she was very interactive with the audience. Stage set up was lousy. couldn't see the band.

    Disappointing

    by biddle_diddle on 2019-07-02Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

I was really looking forward to seeing Dido live after her absence from recording and touring. The show however was spoilt by poor sound quality. The music drowned out her vocals for most songs. Dido has a beautiful voice, but when you can barely hear it because the music is too loud, it ruins what should have otherwise been an showcase for her songs. The newer and less well known songs were hard to listen to and her well known hits were just audible only because the lyrics were known. The venue was excellent and in any other situation, the audio in the auditorium would have been fantastic.

    What a voice

    by R. L. on 2019-07-02Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

She’s lovely! Her voice is so amazing and seeing her sing live is just like listening to her CD. Wish we would have had better seats as it was always that easy to see her.

    Amazing performance

by SWood on 2019-07-02Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

First time I have seen her in concert, but I have been a fan for 20 years and she has been on my bucket list since I was younger. Dido has the voice of an angel. Her show far exceeded my expectations. She has a lovely stage presence and I had an amazing time. A mix of old and new. Incredible.
