    Disclosure set the bar!

by paddywhack on 2014-01-18The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

2014 is barely 3 weeks old, thousands of artists will grace the stages of music venues all over the lovely City of Toronto by years end. Many will be talked about the next day or maybe even still linger in our memories for weeks after. But what happened at the Danforth Music Hall on Tuesday January 14th, 2014 will go down in History and be talked about for years to come. There was a buzz in the air as soon as you stepped foot in the Danforth Music Hall that night. Samo Soundboy was laying down one of his signature DJ'd sets when we arrived. Samo handed over the rig to another DJ around 9ish, who turned out to be 2nd opener, Vic Mensa's DJ. Dropping some Trap and Rap, his warm up set was uninspiring. He stood behind his laptop, constantly looking stage left for signs of his frontman. Vic took the stage about 15 minutes later. Dropping 4-5 tracks from his much acclaimed innanetape mix tape. Not sure why he didn't come out sooner, as his short set was decent. Disclosure hit the stage about 9:40, launching straight into F for You. The rest was legendary. Playing through most of their Settle debut, they threw in the excellent Jessie Ware, Running Remix and a few other surprises in their 1 hr 20 minute Non Stop set. The DMH was jumping, the vibe was electric, everybody was dancing, and the ceiling was crumbling from above. By the time the crowd had a chance to catch their breath, the brothers from the UK were introducing the powerful and hypnotic London Grammar collaboration "Help Me lose my Mind". The perfect Segway for the final tune of the night "Latch". The visuals, sound and lights were stunning. We left the venue with the biggest smile and feelings of awe. Who knew a Tuesday night in Toronto could be so much fun!
