    Absolutely magical!

by vfly on 2009-09-03Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

We celebrated our daughter's seventh birthday in New York! This was the first Broadway show our family has ever seen and it was well worth the trip, it was an experience of a lifetime! We will never forget watching our favorite movie come to life or the goosebumps we all felt when Chelsea Morgan Stock finished "Part of Your World". It was simply and amazing experience!

Great tribute to a childhood fave!

The staging of this Disney musical was incredible and exciting, although the story line was slightly changed all of the original music was in there.

    Uncomfortable seats, disappointing show.

by AjeCanada on 2009-08-23Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

Seats at this theatre are way too small! I had marks on my knees for hours afterwards. The show was disappointing. They changed several things from the movie, none of which were necessary or beneficial to the plot. There was no cohesive throughline in the story and Ariel sings after she loses her voice! What? It was obvious that this show was directed by a committee and not a single director with a genuine vision. The charm and wonder that made the movie so special was completely lost in this stage version.

    The Little Mermaid was Magical

by Mitz on 2009-08-21Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

Having watched many Disney shows in the past, from The Lion King to Beauty and The Beast I do believe that this show falls under a wonderful experience for all involved. The costumes were bright, the new music is beautiful and fits perfectly in the story, and the roller skates were perfect for the under the sea feel. The talent was amazing, including the Sebastien, Scuttle and Flounder. The lighting was interesting and the sets were beautiful and well thought out. Sometimes I found that the stage was a bit bare but I believe for those who grew up with this movie it will leave all of these people with a great smile on their face and memories of a mermaid singing and dancing in front of their eyes for years to come.

    Little Mermaid was AMASING!!

by meiko on 2009-08-18Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

I knew the moment i heard about the little mermaid on broadway I needed to see it. So I booked a trip down to New York just to go see it. Lots of shopping was done and on the saturday night I was there, I went to see the Little Mermaid. Amasing is such a small word for what I want to describe it with. I have always been a huge fan of it since I was little and this was so breathe taking for me. Thank you so much for making it into a broadway musical

I had tears in my eyes at The Little Mermaid!!!

by CathG on 2009-08-10Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

I can't believe that The Little Mermaid is closing after such a short run! What an exceptional production! My daughters and I were speechless at the end: it was incredible! We were so lucky to see Faith Prince as Ursula - this actress is a legend of contemporary musical theatre. Chelsea Morgan Stock was really picture perfect as Ariel - she had a lovely soprano voice! One of my daughters fell in love with the boy who played Flounder - what a huge young talent. I teach music, theatre and art (so my expectations are very high) - this was an exceptional, incredible production!

An Excellent Evening of Disney Fun....

by Directordave on 2009-08-03Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

In the days of X-Rated musicals where shock value is more important than content, The Little Mermaid was a refreshing show. It is Disney through and through, so if that doesn't work for you, you might want to avoid it. But if you like the Disney-ification of fairy tales, this one is a keeper. Triton and Sebastion were excellent, Ariel was quite good but bordered on the shrill in too many songs. Ursula stole the show and was the best character on stage. Lighting, sound, flying, sets and costumes were all excellently done, giving an awe inspiring look to 90% of this show. It closes at the end of August, if you have the time and money, it is worth a look for young and old alike!
