    Jazz fest

by Li on 2021-09-21Scène Rio Tinto - Montreal

Overall the music and show was very good, all I have to say is that I found it a bit short, the show was about 45 minutes long. 5:15 to 6:00!

    Great show

by Maida on 2021-09-20Scène Rio Tinto - Montreal

They put on a good show. I enjoyed listening to them very much. I felt the festival organizers did a great job and put in a great effort to get this off the ground. Looking forward to an even better event next year.

    More English Please

by English9 on 2015-04-13National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

My husband and I drove from Kingston to Ottawa to see Emie as her videos sounded impressive and we like Jazz. The setting was perfect and she and her trio are good musicians. She is a talented composer and has a warm stage presence. However, we were disappointed that she did not speak any English and the announcer from Radio Canada also spoke minimal English, even though he canvassed the audience at the beginning of his introduction and there were a significant number who were English. As a result our enjoyment of the music was dampened because we had no background or information about the music or the artist. We live in a bi-lingual country and Ottawa is bi-lingual, even if Emie had acknowledged that she couldn't speak English I would have felt more sympathetic. The fact that she took the time to talk to the audience and share her thoughts about her music made me feel left out. If I go to a performance in Quebec I do not expect to hear much English but this performance was in Ontario.
