A great 2 man play not just for baseball fans but with insights on faith and marriage!
A very informative, entertaining tribute to Ernie. Peter Carey brings Ernie back to life. Definitely a trip back in time.
Shut your eyes and you would think Ernie was with us. My wife and I enjoyed the play immensely. We highly recommend seeing Ernie.
I took my husband to see Ernie for our 27th Anniversary celebration. He is a long time baseball fan and absolutely enjoyed every minute of the production. It was a trip down memory lane remembering his first ball game with his dad. He spent hours telling our boys about every detail of the play. It brought tears to my eyes. The theatre is so cute and quaint - i loved it.
Ernie was a national treasure and an outstanding human being. Baseball will forever be richer for his presence and the show touched on many of his great attributes.
Overall the show was great! There were only two actors, which surprised me at first. However, it was very fitting for the plot. I will not give anything away, but I will say that this play is suitable for anyone who is a fan of baseball, of Ernie Harwell, or of the theatre in general. It was a truly great experience I got to share with my boyfriend, who was actually a short-term friend of Ernie's before he passed away! Well done, Mitch Albom and ensemble! You made us laugh, you made us cry... you made us appreciate how great of a person Ernie really was. Thank you.
Ernie Harwell meant a lot to many people in the Michigan and Southern Ontario area. We grew up listening to Ernie and the Detroit Tigers. This play is a superior accomplishment considering the number of fans that will all be critics of a sort. There wasn't one person that didn't give a standing ovation. The actors did a great job. You feel like Ernie has come back to deliver a message to his fans. This is a definite DON'T MISS show. Brought a tear to my eye (and I was not alone).
i ended up not going but i gave the ticket to a friend of my husbands and my son also went. they all were amazed at the actors--both the young boy and the man that played ernie. this is my husbands second time seeing it and he still was totally impressed with the whole play. i have yet to see it but i am hoping they will bring it back next year again. we have tickets to the aug 26 game but Ernie is only on til the 12th of august. my husband also said that he would see it yet again if it is on next year. mitch albom did a beautiful job as usual.
the play is interesting , will written & captures the character of the man . The actor who plays Ernie has the voice & body language down to an art form . If this is not enough his appearance is a body double to Ernie. The young boy guides the play at a comfortable pace providing the audience with insight in the man`s life as the ninety minute play appear to fly by. I highly recommend this play to anyone who wants to know more about the life & times of a true radio icon--- do yourself a big favor & invest the time .
It's long gone... Awsome...Well done Mitch. and every one else involved
