    Just Imagine!

by Med on 2022-05-29National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

I loved the performance. So creative and powerful. A wonderful first night of live theatre post Covid. I felt safe and enjoyed every minute. Well done NAC to bring Dimitris Papaioannou and dancers to Ottawa. Thank you all.

    Disturbing yet poetic

by Tudoski on 2022-05-28National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Theater, more than ballet. Poses stopped in time, giving the impression of live paintings. Poetic, with moments of sadness after exuberance.

    Amazing!!

by In Under the Wire on 2022-05-28National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

I made it just in time for the show. Well enough time for Gentlemen to say - here we will find you a seat, as I could not find a ticket copy with a seat number. I got into my seat, and the lights went down. I saw Dimitris dance group on the Wednesday. The show was brilliant. Edgy, clever, hilarious, dreadful, leaving me feeling exhilarated, entertained and enlightened.

    Great night out

by Alx on 2022-04-12National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

I really enjoyed the show and being back at the NAC. The dancers were mesmerizing and the audio/music was amazing. Much more engaging than watching anything at home.

Bboyizm / Crazy Smooth - excellent show

by Ktang on 2022-03-30National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

The show was so much more than I expected. I had expected the dancing to be incredible, but was amazed by the production (lighting, sound, multi-media, choreography…) which was what you would see in a Vegas/ almost Blue Man Group style. The theme of the show was also engaging; inter-generational dancers, the challenges of growing old as a dancer, and the value that each generation of dancers bring to each other. They encouraged audience participation so we cheered, yipped, clapped, whooped, and moved to the music…it was like a huge party. The energy was intoxicating. It was a last minute decision to see this show but managed to snag a ticket in Row A so was close enough to see the sweat whip off their bodies as they spun around on their heads. I would highly recommend seeing this if it comes around again.

Experience and Youth Were Nicely Blended Choreography Wise

by Denis on 2022-03-28National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Not only choreography wise, but also rhythm/choreography, energy, smiles and interpretations from all dancers. multi-media utilization blended with dancers and stage background to convey various messages: respect, be true to yourself by living your passion, take decision, be aligned with your desires. One suggestion about one of the choreography: Solo dancer doing body isolation in the dark. She spent too much time in the dark (2-3 minutes before seeing a change in lighting) as per story telling I guess, which prevented the viewers to appreciate the technic, the form and overall body language. It was a family gathering from all ages with a common denominator, when we're dancing we're never too close from our emotions :-) . Good show and well balanced from a "street dance" perspective to reach out to the overall audience diversity.

This show had so much heart - it was riveting to watch. All the dancers were so engaging and fascinating to watch. The choreography was mesmerizing and the crowd participation made it a 360 experience. Thank you!!!

Lots of potential but a lacklustre performance

by M. M. on 2022-03-28National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

I was disappointed in the storytelling. There were elements of great dance surrounded by an incoherence that disrupted the narrative flow of the sequence. Using archival footage and light-shows as elements were quite interesting but left flat by the choreography.

Worst I’ve ever seen in my life!

by O. on 2020-02-22National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

WITHOUT CHOREOGRAPHY, WITHOUT MUSIC ( only beats) people were running back and forward for 20 minutes then rested 10 minuet and two more times did the same craziness. Probably Dana Gingras wanted to show a mess in human heads , but it’s not a dance. Should be called high intensity interval training .My daughter and me left a theatre with headache and dizziness. I suggest to ban this kind of “ dancing’ and don’t teach Canadians a bad taste. Btw the decision with the light on the stage was cool. Sorry 😐
