About

fun.'s chart-topping indie pop anthem "We Are Young" was everywhere in 2012, earning the band overnight success and one of music's highest honors: Best New Artist at the 2013 Grammy Awards. The song took home the Grammy for Song of the Year, and, along with anthemic hits like "Carry On" and "Some Nights," propelled the band's 2012 sophomore album Some Nights to the No. 1 position on both the Rock and Alternative Albums charts. Lead singer Nate Ruess formed fun. in 2008 following the breakup of his band The Format, teaming up with Jack Antonoff and Andrew Dost to write and record the band's demos. The trio's first single "At Least I'm Not as Sad As I Used to Be" came out in April 2009, quickly followed by the release of their debut album Aim and Ignite, which received praise for its progressive and theatrical pop sound. After opening for Paramore on their 2010 tour, fun. headlined their own U.K. tour before returning to the studio to record their sophomore album. The result, 2012's Some Nights, peaked at No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200, garnering critical praise and spawning platinum-selling smash singles "We Are Young" and the album's title track. On tour in 2013 with Tegan and Sara, the band treated ticket buyers to energetic live concerts of both old and new material, building anticipation for the release of their third studio album in 2014.

fun: What a concert should be

by RanyDany on 2013-09-04Ambleside Park - Vancouver

How many singers can claim today that they just go to the stage and... sing? very few. We are getting used to the mega-shows with lights, dancers, lasers and dress changes. So much that we forget that we like the groups and singers because of what we hear on the radio or our iPads. fun just turned my faith around: it can be done. A group can come out to the stage and just entertain people with the songs. besides, the quality of the sound and the great voice and instrumental work helped a lot. Definitively a must for any music fan.

Fun and Tegan & sara was an amazing experience! Nate Ruess is so full of energy he just doesn't stop. I honestly came to the concert for Tegan and sara but Fun was probably the best concert I've been to in my life. He sounds brilliant live and he's so gorgeous when he smiles haha <3 Best night of Summer 2013!!

Excellent experience minus being outside. Hard to stand all that time, especially in the heat.

    Always Fun.

Third time seeing Fun and first time for Tegan and Sara- definitely worth it. Tegan and Sara put on a great show. Having not seen them before and really not knowing any of their songs, definite appreciation for their music was had after their performance. It was also really nice to see the interplay between the two sisters - proof that they get along with each other and enjoying working/perfoming together Fun - was well fun! There is so much energy which can be surprising to see since their music isn't really the boppy. A very good show!

The music and artists where awesome the venue was great! The rainy weather did make the ground muddy but we had rain jackets to lay down before the towel so that saved the day! Good bang for my buck with 4 bands playing!

    Concert a hit!

by Maggiemay1234 on 2013-07-11Downsview Park Allen Road - Toronto

The day and evening at Downsview were flawless. Crowds were well handled. It never felt too crowded. People were respectful. There was plenty of space to roam around. The only 2 drawbacks were the mud (no fault to anybody, and the lack of healthy eating treats). And I wished a line up was posted so we could familiarize ourselves with the bands and the timing of their performances. The entertainment was great. Great sound, good visual lines (once the overhead screens were hooked up), you could have a decent vantage point from many places. Loved all the bands. Tegan and Sara were great! Have downloaded a bunch more of their songs. And FUN. was fantastic. I hope Nate's voice holds out for the tour. What a power house. And I wish his female guitar player and back up had more front singing and duets.
