At his live shows he takes the stage with an arsenal of guitars that would make any gear nut swoon, picking out evocative melodies on his three vintage Gibsons, a Fender Stratocaster, and a Hammertone Octave 12. Ontario-born Garnet Rogers rose to prominence performing with his older brother, Canadian folk legend Stan Rogers. Following Stan’s tragic 1983 death in an airplane fire, Garnet soldiered on, making his solo debut the next year with a self-titled album. Whereas Stan’s songs grew out of traditional Canadian Maritime styles, Garnet established his own unique sound by incorporating elements of blues, rock, and even classical music. Garnet maintained a steady release schedule throughout the ‘80s, ‘90s, and ‘00s, including a 2002 best-of album titled All That Is. In 2014 he released Summer’s End, a tour de force that proved he remains as vital a songwriting force as ever.
