RiverRock Presents: Nick and Sophie Tweed-Simmons!
by Python46 on 2012-06-08The RiverRock Casino Show Theatre - Richmond, British Columbia, Canada June 1, 2012The Famous RiverRock Casino's Howard Blank Proudly Presents; Nick and Sophie Tweed Simmons. It was a night of great music, talent, stellar entertainment and dancing with the singing duo of Nick Tweed-Simmons and his very beautiful sister Sophie. These young adults have really achieved fame now on their own with this mini tour here at The RiverRock. With last year's shows still fresh in everyone's mind, the duo came back for an encore presentation in the Show Theatre this time. Over 1,000 fans had to be turned away for last years four appearances at the RiverRock's Lulu's Lounge so they moved up to have a nightclub act in the much larger Show Theatre. It was set up with Cabaret seating and to a sold out crowd too. Tickets were only $20.00 and the show was an affordable night out and with stellar talent. The back-up band was again fronted by Keyboardist Teddy, Zig Zag, Andreadis with The Joe Fernandes band performing all those great classics with style. What a night. I danced until I was dizzy, It''s not hard as I suffer a disability but I managed a couple of slow tunes with my Love. We may be on TV too as the Family Jewels' crew was on hand again to film the show. The camera's were somewhat in the way at first but as the dance floor became busy the one camera disappeared. Three other camera's. one portable on stage, one moving back and forth in front of the tables and one stationary in back became almost invisable. Nick opened the night with one of his favorites, Dean Martin's Sway. He then continued rocking with Unchain My Heart, Use me, Drowning In My Own Tears, Elvis Presley's Little Sister too. Twelve hits in all. Nick who is 23 years old ,and at six foot eight inches tall had a commanding presence on stage. He seemed a little reluctant, joking several times he had screwed up on some songs. We could not tell, it was all fun. One fan was sporting a KISS t-shirt, he chuckled a remark that he would never escape KISS. He is, after all Gene Simmons' son, and he is a geat frontman like his father. I expect we will see Nick fronting s big Rock Band one day too. There were a lot of lovely ladies, all vying for Nick's attention on the dance floor. Sophie swayed onto the stage and opened with Something's Got a Hold On Me. She said she was so happy knowing all her friends were there and her family too. We could not see Gene Simmons or Shannon Tweed but they were around. I'm sure they were as proud as ever for their kids this night. Lucky us. Sophie's 19 now. We got to see her and Nick grow up the last eight years on Family Jewels. Sophie sang a few more slow songs than Nick. We danced to Etta James' At Last and Sophie's cover of Crazy for You. The floor was very crowded. A lot of dancing. Sophie only did 11 songs. Her voice is amazing. She has such a sweet jazzy style and her range is fantastic. She was definitely more at ease with the audience and her smile showed us she was having a great time too. She finished her set with Cab Calloway's Hi Dee Ho Man, again getting the audience to participate. Nick then returned and as a duo they sang two more songs. Teddy got a short piano solo in there too during Sophie's cover of 'I'm Telling You'. I confess I loved seeing Teddy Zig Zag and The Joe Fernandes Band. Teddy is a great keyboardist. Thank You to Howard Blank, Vice President of Media and Entertainment for The RiverRock for getting their act to come back to Richmond, British Columbia once again. It was a bigger and better show this time in the Cabaret. See you next time Nick and Sophie. Yeah Baby, What a great show!
