About

GEORGE EZRA IN CONCERT:

It’s been a quick rise for bass-voiced British singer-songwriter George Ezra. Since blowing up charts around the globe in 2013 with his folky breakout hit “Budapest”, Ezra has topped the UK Albums Chart, toured the world, and has been nominated for a bevvy of awards. Despite his astronomical rise, the fresh-faced young crooner remains humble and authentic in concert, delivering his world-wise songs with a disarming smile and plenty of infectious energy. With his rich voice and expertly crafted songs, George Ezra is a must-see for fans of folk, blues, and good old-fashioned rock and roll.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

George Ezra was born and raised in Hertford, England, and in 2011 he moved to Bristol to attend the British and Irish Modern Music Institute. His love for American folk and blues artists like Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan closely influenced his songwriting, but it was the huge, throaty voice of blues legend Lead Belly that inspired his singing style. Ezra made his debut in 2013 with a performance on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury, which he followed up a few months later with his debut EP Did You Hear the Rain? In late 2013 he scored a breakthrough hit with “Budapest”, the lead single from his 2014 debut album Wanted on Voyage. The song became an international sensation, helping to propel the album to the top of the UK Albums Chart and the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 chart in the US. With a string of high profile festival appearances slated for 2015, Ezra has ticket buyers eager to catch him in concert.

From the moment George Ezra took the stage, he had the crowd at the Commodore in the palm of his hand. George's stage presence and talent completely engaged the crowd and turned the event into a giant singalong The musicianship was amazing and his voice is phenomenal.

George Ezra + James Bay = Magic

by SSlovesmusic on 2015-08-09Sherbourne Common - Toronto

I didn't know what to expect going into this show, but it was even better than expected. This co-headliner was one of the most brilliant things I've ever witnessed. I had been wanting to see both acts for a while, so they announced this show in Toronto, I was ecstatic. The vibe was awesome, and the crowd was chill and relaxed. There was the huddle of people by the stage, where I stood, but there were also tons of people relaxing on blankets with their friends. George was the first of the two acts and he blew everyone away. Everyone sang his lyrics with enthusiasm and he brought a great energy to the stage. James came on next, and his performance was electric. It was great to see two artists so deeply involved in their own music and consumed by what really matters at a live concert. I will definitely see them both at their own future solo shows and would recommend to everyone to see both of these musicians live!! Real music right here.

    Great experience

by Florencia on 2015-08-06Sherbourne Common - Toronto

The sound was great and the venue worked out great. Easy to get to and it accommodated the crowds. George and James were fantastic. The opening band could have started playing earlier, the venue was filled and we were all waiting for a while. Between sets, the time it took to set up each stage was considerably long. I have been to many concerts of all sorts and the time between each band was significant, ending the event at almost midnight.

    Up and coming stars

by eyhockey on 2015-08-04Sherbourne Common - Toronto

This was a good concert, we didn't have the greatest seats as we weren't there early enough. We are in our 50's so we didn't want to stand in line too long. George Ezra happens to be my wife's favourite and James Bay is mine. George was good and sounded much like his CD. He doesn't sound sure of himself, always apologizing for not having his back-up singers with him so he had to sing the lines himself and other times also. He sounds like the lead singer of the 80's band Crash Test Dummies. James Bay was very good and also sounded like his CD. The crowd was not alive as much as they could have been. I realize this is a Toronto crowd, not the rowdy type. We were stumped as the tickets said 5:00pm show but actually meant the gates open at 5 but there was no mention of the actual start time. After you stood in line for an hour you waited another 2 hours for the show to begin, Yawn.

George Ezra and James Bay blew my freakin mind!!

by DaisiesandSand on 2015-08-04Sherbourne Common - Toronto

I came to see these two young artists knowing they had real, raw, talent. What I did not expect was that their live performance would be so awesome. Their personality and presence was phenomenal, a real treat, and I must say that it ended way too soon :( Please, please come back! And if you can bring Tom Odell, that would be fabulous!! Thank you!

    Open time was 5?

by Izzzabella on 2015-08-04Sherbourne Common - Toronto

The artists were great, even the openers Coasts are one of my favourites! Yet they took about two and a half hours to come on stage.. Then Ezra didn't come on for another half hour after they were done and his performance wasn't that much longer than theirs... Another half hour went by before James Bay came on around nine thirty so we'd been at the venue for more than four hours, plus the couple hours we had spent in line. I really loved the show and the food vendures but the waiting time even for the opening band to come on was just brutal. Plus, they played reggae during the wait periods which didn't really match the genre of music we came to see.. It was very odd.
