About

Girl Talk in Concert

Girl Talk (aka Pittsburgh's Gregg Gillis) has been constructing meticulous sample-based music since 2000. His early work was known for its raw experimental nature, but by the release of his 2006 album, Night Ripper, that style evolved into genre-smashing, breakneck-paced party jams. Night Ripper consisted of over 300 songs, from wildly disparate Top 40 genres and eras, mashed up and layered together into one cohesive collage. It received critical acclaim, and the attention resulted in a rapidly growing fan base. Gillis ended up quitting his biomedical engineering day job one year later.

Girl Talk continued to develop his signature style with the release of Feed the Animals in 2008 and All Day in 2010. Each album grew increasingly detailed and complex. He steadily toured over the following years, bringing his renowned confetti-covered and sweat-soaked performances to venues ranging from house party basements to major festivals. By 2014, Gillis began focusing on collaborative work producing hip hop for some of his favorite rap artists. That same year, he released "Broken Ankles," an EP with Freeway. Since "Broken Ankles", Gillis has steadily earned an impressive list of production credits and collaborations with his artistic contemporaries including, but not limited to, Wiz Khalifa, T-Pain, Tory Lanez, Young Nudy, Bas, Cozz, Erick The Architect (from Flatbush Zombies), Smoke DZA, and Don Q.

    Dancing to girl talK

by Melcgol on 2012-09-09Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Knowing how the commodore concerts function, we arrived at 10:15 after a nice dinner... We had just enough time to grab a handful of drinks and he was on before 11. I no familly don't like the late starts at the commodore but on a Friday night it's perfect. He put on a great performance and had everyone dancing. The balloons and balls were fun. I wish it had been longer! The floors were soaked in drinks and sweat and a little dangerous to be up at the front, people were sliding and falling. I will see him again forsure.

    Party Favours!

by Kdwarren on 2012-09-07Edmonton Event Centre - Edmonton

Girl Talk puts on a wicked show! He plays all the samples you've grown to love form his old albums and mixes them with newer songs that are popular at the time as well. There tons of cool party favours like balloons and confetti constantly raining down and guys with leaf blowers shooting toilet paper all over the place

I think he could have used more base or something. It was fun but not as good as I thought it would be

    As Usual

    by Ste7en on 2011-07-16Sound Academy - Toronto

As usual, Girl Talk was phenomenal. I've never been to another show that can even compare to his. Everyone is dancing and having a great time, it's sweaty as all hell, and people are pumped up. Girl Talk puts on the greatest show ever. Period. The end..

You would never think watching a DJ mix songs could be so much fun. You will dance from beginning to end and then ask for more

    Good show

by nena on 2011-07-12Sound Academy - Toronto

Girl Talk was great - highly energetic, interesting, good stage presentation - all the balloons and everything else flying and floating. Bad remark on organizers - when show was done at 11:50pm - they put the lights on and started sweeping floors and that was it for the evening.

A hot and sweaty night at Girl Talk!

    by aLeX87 on 2011-07-12Sound Academy - Toronto

I had a lot of fun at the Girl Talk concert! Unfortunately I showed up late at around 10:45pm when the concert started at 8:00 so I did miss a lot of the opening act. When we showed up though, the dance floor was rocking and everyone was having a wicked time! Basically like a huge club scene with people dancing (and sweating) together. :)

Another awesome show put on by Girl Talk. Only complaint is the size of the venue. It was so packed that people would start to push. I'll def be going to his next show in Toronto! His music remixin' rocks! LOVIN' GIRL TALK!
