Gladys Knight On Tour

The "Empress of Soul" is back. One of Motown's most iconic acts, Gladys Knight, returns to the big stage in 25 cities across North America for her 2022 tour. Although she's perhaps best known for her original rendition of the R&B classic "I Heard it Through the Grapevine (1967)," Knight has remained in the limelight as one of the all-time greats for the last 60 years. The seven-time Grammy award winner has won across three categories including Pop, R&B and Gospel, and has another 22 nominations spanning across five decades. Over her illustrious career, she has released 10 studio albums, with her debut album Miss Gladys Knight releasing in 1978, and her most recent work Where My Heart Belongs coming out in 2014. In 1996, her band Gladys Knight & the Pips was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Knight was also included on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Singers of All Time list. Off the stage, Knight has authored two books, including a biography titled Each Line of Pain and Glory: My Life Story, and made various appearances on television and the big screen. Her most recent appearances came when she played herself in Coming 2 America in 2021 and when she wore the bee costume on "The Masked Singer" in 2019.

Gladys Knight in Concert

Gladys Knight was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Merald Knight Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth on May 28, 1944. She has a sister (Brenda) and two brothers (Merald "Bubba" Jr. and David). As a child and into her teens, Knight sang in her local church choir where she refined her Motown chops. She had her first breakthrough into the spotlight at the age of 8 when she won Ted Mack's The Original Amateur Hour contest. Over the next few years, Knight and four of her family members (Bubba, Edward Patten, Langston George, and William Guest) formed a performing group to be called Gladys Knight & the Pips. After a successful run in the local Atlanta music scene, the group received a record deal with Brunswick Records in 1957 and began opening for legends in the music scene and influences on their style such as Sam Cooke. The group's first record to chart was in fact a cover of Johnny Otis' "Every Beat of My Heart," which made it into the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Knight left the group in 1962 after a string of successful releases such as "Letter Full of Tears" to start a family with her husband Jimmy Newman. However, she returned to the group two years later and went on to critical success over the course of the next five decades.

Gladys Knight - off the rails!

by MAnnieS on 2016-08-08Star Of The Desert Arena at Primm Valley Resorts - Primm

Spent a week in Vegas & needed to get off the Strip! Gladys was playing in Primm & found 3rd row tickets! She BLEW US AWAY! She showed her range, power & ability to hold THAT note! Showcased songs from each decade. And funny!!! Her young band was tight - EXCEPTIONAL tribute to Prince. I'd see her again in a heartbeat!

    Gladys Knight - unforgettable!

What a classy lady and a legend. I'm so glad I got to see her as all the artists of her genre are fading away and that era is ending.

    FABULOUS CLASSY GLADYS

by LOVERAMA on 2012-06-12Casino Rama - Rama

What an amazing show!!!She is such a wonderful entertainer. I've seen her a few times and she just gets more classy each time. Love her sense of humour. Glad she brought Pip along for a song. Please keep bringing her back. I would go see her, Hall and Oates, Earth Wind and Fire and Chicago in a heartbeat. Let's keep the Rama lineup going....this year was a little "boring". There's a lot of "MOTOWN" fans out there...please keep us happy.

    The amazing Gladys!

by Quisha on 2012-06-11Casino Rama - Rama

Words cannot describe seeing an icon live! Gladys Knight awakened The inner soul of all who attended. Her rendition of "I Hope You Dance" was breath taking. There was a sense of family when she entered the stage and then brought her comedic and talented brother out. She has a wonderful gift and I would highly recommend people to see her in action. Today's music is lacking the soul and realness in a song. Gladys reminded me of soul! Thank you Gladys and her wonderful band. Also the sound was fantastic!

A Simply Exquisite Evening With Gladys Knight

by Deko on 2012-06-11Casino Rama - Rama

There is always a great reason a star is referred to as a legend. Gladys does it in spades and one would be foolish to miss a chance to see her live.

    Gladys is still amazing!

by ve3kni on 2012-05-02The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

Gladys has still got it. She used material from many genres and made them her songs to the point where you would ask yourself,"Did she record this song originally?" She made her whole performance very intimate and personal.

    FANTASTIC!!!

by michaelthesurfer on 2012-04-07River Rock Casino Resort - Richmond

I bought the tickets and my Mom and her best friend went to the concert.. They said that Gladys Knight was amazing and she sang all her big hits!!!! This show had also been booked before she knew she was going to be on "Dancing With The Stars" and despite the rigorous practice schedule, she insisted on fulfilling her bookings which speaks volumes of her!!! She had already practiced 5 hours that same day!!!

I saw her in Niagara Falls a couple of years ago and she was charming. She really made the audience feel part of the show.
