    Steve Martin

by Cruisergirl on 2012-08-09Orpheum - Vancovuer

Very disappointing...ridiculous questions from the audience, poorly organized and a waste of good money. The format was far too loose and this could have been so much better handled had they chosen questions ahead of time, not just pot luck!!!!!!!!!

Best of the Fest a success!

    by Gibbler17 on 2010-09-29Vogue Theatre - Vancouver

I had an enjoyable time watching several comics that performed at the Best of the Fest. It was nice to be able to see so many comics in one show each with their own style of comedy. They were all entertaining in their own way. I'm glad that we went to the 7:30 show and not the 10:00pm show. Since food and drink are allowed into the Vogue theatre, there was a lot of garbage after the first show. While we were leaving the theatre, everyone comoing for the 10pm show had to wait outside in the rain. I guess people wanted to go to the later show because it is the racier show, if you go to the later show, there is no need to come so early.

    Badly organized

by Meggan on 2010-09-27Vogue Theatre - Vancouver

The second half of the show was good but the evening was ruined before we even got in. We were told the doors would open at 9pm and got there then. We were told the show would be delayed and they aren't opening the doors till 10pm. I had a bad leg and could barely walk so we waited out in the rain. At about 9:35 we were told we were waiting in the wrong spot and were moved. They were poorly organized and should of built in the extra time, my friend had to leave early because of the delay in order to get home by transit. I won't be going to anymore Global Comedyfest because of this, no apologizes were given.

We showed up half and hour early and the line was already around the block. The show was supposed to start at 10 and they did not let people in until after 10 and the show was about 40 minutes late in starting. About 3 of the comics were not funny at all including the worst stand up comedy I have ever seen. The host was not very funny at all either. Will not be buying tickets to this fest again for quite a while.

    Dredge of the Fest

by HTaylor on 2010-09-27Vogue Theatre - Vancouver

I was looking forward to the “Edge of the Fest” because I am a huge fan of edgy and creative humour that pushes the boundaries of political correctness and social acceptance. Unfortunately the show I watched on Saturday night (10pm show) only approached the edge of pointlessness and provided very few laughs. I felt as though I was witnessing some inside joke by the group of comedians. Prior to the show in some sort of misguided attempt to create a certain theme to the show it was as though they had collectively agreed to try out their most obscure (and I suspect untested) bits on the audience that had paid to see professional comedians. As bad as that was, the worst part was the fact that more than one performer appeared to not have a routine at all and just winged it (or screamed nonsense) for their set. Overall it was incredibly disappointing and I felt offended and ripped off that this group of “professionals” chose not to provide a show worthy of a free open mike night let alone what was billed as a premium event at an international comedy festival. There were a few highlights and solid laughs but too few to make up for the painfully off-the-mark crash and burn fest that seemed to only make the comedians themselves laugh. I hope they had fun because very few of us in the crowd did. Don’t make us your guinea pigs when we are shelling out $35 a seat for the promise of a professional show. You were an embarrassment to yourselves and a disgrace to you profession!

    Laughapaloosa!

by Funnybone on 2010-09-27Vogue Theatre - Vancouver

We laughed, we cried ... really enjoyed Feldman, Maron, Nataro, Reynolds, and the short Brit wearing plaid. Thought Peter Chau took WAY too much time compared to the other comics. He acted as though it was HIS show. Thanks for another terrific Best/Fest! We'll be back next year.

    Gerry Dee - Comedy Fest

by KentH on 2010-09-27Vogue Theatre - Vancouver

Gerry Dee is one of the funniest comedians that I have seen in a while. I would strongly recommend that you go and see one of his shows. For the most part it was fairly clean with not too much profanity and related to everyday humour. Vogue theatre puts you very close to the performers and every seat in the house is a great one!
