    Horrible food and touristic music

by FabCanada on 2017-10-11B.B. King Blues Club & Grill - New York

Food was an absolute disaster, music was just okay and this is definitively pricey...

Harlem Gospel Choir is good but rest was bad

by DCTourist on 2016-10-26Howard Theatre - Washington

Howard Theatre was 30 min delayed opening its doors. We bought "VIP" booth seats for $40 each only to be seated in worse seats than general seating. It was a tiny table meant for 4 people to eat brunch. We moved to cheaper seats. The menu is a rip-off: $27 for fried chicken that is just salt. The coffee was terrible. The server tried to convince us that a mimosa was an OJ and vice-versa.

This was the biggest disappointed of our week long stay in NYC. If you are looking for a musical choir experience, this is not the one. The singers are not bad but there is very little actual music sung. There is, however, a lot of opportunity to volunteer to go onstage wheaher to announce your birthday, dance a little, or have your child used to play on your heartstrings to donate to their charity. Although we were told there was plenty of food for all, by the time our table was directed to the buffet, there were no salads left nor bread. The rest was mediocre and cold. The only saving grace for this event was being in BBKings and the conversation we had with the couple we were seated with before the show. This is Showbiz, not the way a gospel choir should be experienced.

    Non-stop mimosas $12

by mikw on 2015-01-15Howard Theatre - Washington

Why wouldn't you start a Sunday with decent gospel music, a good meal and a mimosa. Holidays are great.

The show was OK but too commercialized and tourist-oriented for me with too much audience participation and not enough choir; I would have preferred to attend a church service in Harlem and hear gospel choirs in a more natural environment. I found out about this option after I bought a ticket to your show. I could have skipped the buffet .. far too many greasy and unhealthy food choices for me.

    Nothing Special

by Lockgate on 2014-03-16B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

Food was average, venue was very crowded and not much room, performance was disappointing - I was expecting a choir rather than a handful of singers, and the performance was like being shouted at the whole time. It was not what I was expecting and I was disappointed.

    Absolutely Uplifting

The Harlem Gospel Choir was amazing. Their songs were uplifting and you left feeling happier. Was even walking down the street singing their songs.

This event is a very touristy and slick show when they sang it was great but they did too much inviting the audience on stage and asking where they are from, etc. And too much preaching. I wasn't expecting to go to church.
