    Harry never dissapoints

by CT on 2020-01-27Arden Theatre - St Albert

This is the third time I have seen Harry. The first time I saw Harry was at Festival Place in Sherwood Park. I bought tickets as soon as there available. Then.. Knee replacement. The show was on a Friday and my knee replacement was Monday. I went to the box office at Festival Place and they were kind enough to substitute my tickets for ones in the wheel chair area. And yes I did attend. A walker, an ice pack and some meds and a trusty husband. All went well. And yes Harry is the best

    Wonderful!

by Shaktie on 2017-02-21National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Loved my evening! Harry Manx is a master and I loved the 4 ladies "Devas", it was a nice touch, as well as the two other talented musicians. The only thing is that I'm not fond of synthesizers, but it was not overly used. Thank you! Our seating however was terrible! It was the first time that we were on the floor in front of the musicians, and we paid extra for it. The floor being flat I couldn't see anything except the back of a big head and when changing with my husband, it didn't help. We ended up sitting separately. That was rather ridiculous!!! Whoever conceived of seats on a flat floor, it should always be in an angle so as to see above the people in front.

    Could have been much better!

by ALargeFan on 2017-02-21National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

I was very disappointed with this concert at Ottawa's NAC. First off, my biggest objection is Harry's use of the 'snare' and 'bass drum' triggers he activates with his feet. They are boring, obtrusive and in this case, way too loud. The bass drum trigger destroyed any nuance to the playing. The rhythms were repetitious and somewhat tedious, taking the life out of the songs and the rest of the playing. And worse, the same sound sample (cross stick and boomy bass) was used the entire night. Others at the concert that night agreed with me on these points. Second, the sound mix was very bad. We were in section C close to one of the centre isles, and could only hear the string section through the stage monitors (and only just). Our friends in the balcony could barely hear them at all. We could only hear Kevin Breit's guitar through his an-stage amp. As a result, his playing didn't feel like part of the music.

This was the first time for my husband and I to see Harry Manx live and it was absolutely wonderful. The band and string section were a great touch. We would see him again for sure.

    Great as always

by realrover on 2015-03-30Winter Garden Theatre - Toronto

This is my third Manx concert. Harry was great as always. Steve Marriner helped Harry with a harp very well. I'd just probably wanted to hear some latest stuff from Harry, but old proven hits can't go wrong as well. Bravo, Harry!

Harry Manx delivers night of magical music

by NewJarvisFan on 2013-03-09National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Harry Manx is a virtuoso musician--his blend of blues and raga is incredible. But equally incredible is his ability to bring together a group of talented musicians who are pretty much strangers to each other on a stage and create something magical. Music that transports you and fills you with pleasure... It was a truly fine experience, one that will always stand out in my memory.

Perfect venue to see a great group of artists...

by JiffJaffJeff on 2013-03-09National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Harry Manx was great! I have just recently learned about him and heard about the show thanks to Facebook. The band was great, but I found the sound levels were a bit off, when Steve Marriner first played the drums, it was over powering. Yeshe's rendition of Summertime was too upbeat. Check his YouTube version out! Another annoyance, we were sitting in the back row and some people were standing behind us. I think that the either worked at the NAC or were friends of Harry. They talked and laughed at inappropriate times and were quite distracting. Hairy eyeballs had no effect. I was this close to losing it when they moved away. The lady that took our tickets was very nice. Overall it was a great show. All of the performers were great and they played well together. I am looking forward to seeing them again.
