One of the first songs I learned to play on the piano 50 years ago was Four Strong Winds, and I joined in on the sing-along with the rest of the mostly-senior audience. Mr. Tyson looked stooped, frail, and sort of breath at times. He has a good memory and a good sense of humor, stating he was using pure vodka for his cough. He recounted his travels and his work with other songwriters over the years.
Voice was gravelly and phlemy...all songs sounded the same...he kept knocking Winnipeg..we left half way through.
I had taken my Mom to see Ian Tyson on Sunday. We had a fabulous time. It was so nice to see Mr Tyson still playing his guitar and singing, entertaining all of us in the audience. With the health issues he has over come we were amazed at what spunk he had. "Hats off to you Ian Tyson" May the Good Lord be with you always.
Two shows in a year, and both were great. Any age should see and hear Ian.
Ian Tyson put on an amazing show his humor and story telling is one of a kind.
The whole show was great songs were great he was great would go see him again in a heartbeat!!!
I have been attending Ian Tyson concerts since 1966. It is one thing to listen to his CDs frequently but a fabulous treat to hear him live. I really enjoyed his old tunes like Someday Soon and Navaho Rug as well as the new songs. He is definitely a great musician, entertainer and storyteller! A wonderful ambassador for Alberta.
Really enjoyed the concert. Ian's voice is better than ever and we enjoyed all his new songs but always live his old songs.
I didn't know a lot of the songs in the "first act", but looked forward to his comment that many I was more familiar with would be later. The songs he sang were fun though. When he got up for what we presumed was a brief intermission and didn't return, it was a great disappointment. No apology, nothing but "his show is finished". Not worth the $60.00.
