About

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

Contemporary folk icons Indigo Girls have had a long tenure as torchbearers of a modern approach to folk music that incorporates elements of alternative rock, punk, and country into the genre's traditional foundation. Each taking the stage with a guitar and a distinct voice, Emily Saliers and Amy Ray find the right balance of tension and harmony at their live shows, thrilling fans with marathon sets of mainstream hits and cult classics from their extensive catalog. In anticipation of a return to the studio in late 2014 for their 14th album, the Girls are pulling out all the stops on tour, performing alongside some of the country's best symphony orchestras at select dates around the country.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Childhood schoolmates Amy Ray and Emily Saliers began performing together while attending high school in Atlanta, eventually assuming the name Indigo Girls during their time together at Emory College. Their strong showing on 1987 debut LP Strange Fires set the stage for their self-titled 1989 sophomore album, which scored them their first hit with "Closer to Fine" and received a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. 1994's Swamp Ophelia would be an even bigger success, peaking at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 and going on to receive platinum certification from the RIAA. Over two and a half decades, the Indigo Girls have endured as one of folk's most beloved alternative acts, showing no signs of slowing with new material and a tour in 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Absolutely fantastic show, Amy and Emily are very talented musicians, but when you add a 75 piece backup band to their music, it hits new heights."

"Best musical performance I have ever seen. Seeing the Indigo Girls play with a symphony orchestra was incredible."

"It was amazing to hear this duo and their powerful harmonies played with a full symphony orchestra. I have seen them live before, but this was a special event."

    Indigo Girls

by Notmykindofshow on 2017-09-16Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

Although one of the premier venues in San Diego for concerts we were very disappointed with the Indigo Girls concert. The sound was not great...guitars too loud for their voices. They only sang new stuff and songs they had as hits back in the 80-90's they didn't perform. Really not the most engaging performers either sadly.

    indigo girls were awesome

by RandJLoveyou on 2016-03-07Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I totally enjoyed the indigo girls at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver. It was nice that they additional people who actually played with them (Violinist and Bass Guitar) but we did find at times that the bass guitar drowned them out. It was always nice to just listening to them, with just the two of them playing . the Violinist was fine. bass guitar kinda took over. Also would like to see them come to this venue more often. they were sorely missed. looking forward to the next time. A well kept secret is that they do midnight train to Georgia awesomely, and sure would like to hear them do it next time.

    Symphony perfection

by Ange331 on 2015-10-29Roy Thomson Hall - Toronto

It was an awesome show and who knew that the symphony and the Indigo Girls would compliment each other so much. Don't miss it.

Astounding guitar playing! So so sound system...Oi

by NantonGuy on 2013-10-10Knox United Church (Calgary) - Calgary

Brilliant musicianship, great opening act. and as always, an interesting venue. Loved the music, tried to listen to the conversation in between songs...barely audible, and the music system "struggled."

    Indigo GirIs

by Barb123 on 2013-10-07Arden Theatre - St Albert

Have been to many concerts but never to Indigo Girls before. Have always been a big fan and was excited to see them. They are two talented ladies who have a good time doing what they're doing and they were also funny relating to the audience. Opening act was also amazing. Would go again tomorrow.

The Indigo Girls were amazing! Their music is full of reflective lyrics, rich harmonies and social justice. I have been a fan for more than 20 years and this was perhaps the best concert I have attended.

The IGs are like Joni Mitchell - time makes their music richer somehow. The concert was amazing.

    Calgary loves Indigo Girls

by Ovation on 2013-10-04Knox United Church (Calgary) - Calgary

With 14 albums out, the Indigo Girls have a lot of great songs to draw from. Their musicianship is excellent, and the vocal harmonies as mesmerizing as ever. A relaxed show with great interaction with the audience.

I loved the location -- the Knox United Church is a perfect place for an intimate concert setting. I enjoyed listening to these two talented ladies. However, there were some issues. Their sound system was very poor and we could not make out what they were saying when they were talking -- very tinny sounding. The one girl was off key numerous times. Whenever someone requested a song the standard reply was, "We don't know that one." Very disappointing that they don't play more of their older songs.

Indigo Girls took my breath away

by tokyorose on 2013-10-03Knox United Church (Calgary) - Calgary

Couldn't believe the sound. The venue was a little weird because of the church so people were a little muted and not dancing but I would have if there was more room. and the opening act was just as good--will definitely buy music by Jeremy Fisher now. Please bring them back again!!!
