Jaga Jazzist was INCREDIBLE. This was one of the best shows I've ever seen. If you get a chance to catch them in concert in the future, DO IT!

Norway-based Jaga Jazzist dissolves boundaries while synthesizing elements of electronica, jazz, dub, and avant-rock into a lush listenable stew that's all their own. It's a brilliant, multi-textured sound, rooted in the dynamics and instrumentation of jazz (lots of brass, woodwinds, a Fender Rhodes) but able to access the blazing rush of dance music and the arms-in-the-air abandon of rock. by Raph on 2011-06-27Venue - VancouverIt was 8:20pm when I got a text msg from a friend who was already at the show, "jazzist is already on." No opening act? Why didn't I know about this?? I guess that's the limitations of not having the ticket in hand. But the poster for the event should have emphasized it. I was mad. I ran down Granville street like I was being chased -- chased by the fear that I am missing out my first chance to see one of my favourite bands, Jaga Jazzist. When I finally got to the venue, Venue, they were just finishing up their second song -- mind you, their songs are long, so I missed quite a bit. Anyways other than the late arrival, I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Great sound, respectful crowd. Everything was great. Thanks for making thus possible Jazz Festival!
