    Jeff Bridges was awesome

He played all the great songs he sang in Crazy Heart plus some new ones I loved. His music choice and taste is impeccable.

    Multitalented Dude does it again!

by kweeny on 2010-09-08The Avalon Ballroom Theatre At Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort - Niagara Falls

I just love Jeff Bridges. He's an excellent actor - I've enjoyed him in so many rolls. He took things a level higher with Crazy Heart, trying his hand at musicianship and bagging the Academy Award for his performance. I am so glad that he took his show onto the road. Bridges is funny, charming and charismatic. He has some definite musical talent and put on a fantastic show, despite the fact that he was suffering from a bad cold. If the music wasn't enough, he had some great stories of days gone by related to acting and music. His backing band "The Abiders" were good as well - all seasoned musicians who rounded out the songs perfectly. I can't wait for him to come back to the area - I'd definitely go see him again!!

Bad Blake drinks tea - Jeff Bridges at Fallsview

by Unlocker on 2010-09-03The Avalon Ballroom Theatre At Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort - Niagara Falls

I loved Crazy Heart, and Jeff Bridge's musical performance at the Fallsview Casino's Avalon Ballroom in Niagara Falls last night made it clear why... the music is great! Playing songs performed in the film and other material written by friends and collegues (he mentioned John Goodwyn?), he took time out from his busy acting career to have some fun. His gruff voice is perfect for the material he chose, and band and sound were great. It took him a while to warm up, but once they were going he showed his charmingly goofy side. Suffering from a cold and sore throat, he traded hard liquor a-la-Bad Blake for a tea pot and water bottle on stage... yes, pouring tea from a little white tea pot into a tea cup throughout the performance. He told us he loved seeing Niagara Falls for the first time, entertained us with stories about his many famous friends and his father, and told us we were their first ever audience! It was the first concert he gave with this band, performing the Crazy Heart soundtrack, and even though there were minor glitches, they played like old pros. Great musicians and very well arranged songs. Lots of Big Lebowski fans in the audience, all very happy to hear their favourite song from the movie as the last song of the night. It was a two-song encore, and Jeff saved the most popular song from Crazy Heart, the Oscar winning 'The Weary Kind', for the encore. He pulled it off, and we all had a great time! Leaving the venue among an army of slow-moving walking aids was a bit of a sad realization... hope they were Lloyd Bridges fans checking out the son. Thanks for coming all the way to see us, Jeff! (Even though you were probably heading for the TIFF anyways).

My wife and I enjoyed the performance. Admittedly Jeff is not the greatest singer but his down to earth attitude and banter audience was fun. I would gladly go to another one of his performances.
