Jin is my girlfriend's pop idol. She's a big fan of KAT-TUN but he's always been her favourite of the group, and when he went solo she was ecstatic. So, naturally, when I found out that he was coming to Vancouver, I pounced of the first tickets I could find. I haven't been to a lot of concerts, and certainly never a pop concert, but it was a great experience. The energy was intense and the music was (for the most part) really good. I especially enjoyed how Jin encouraged the crowd to get into it and move a little, even though it wasn't exactly the kind of place where you can dance and move around a lot. The lights, choreography, and general performance quality were a definite 9. I think that the only thing that could have made it a 10 have been tighter choreography (the dancers were often not well synced and tended to do slightly different moves, rather than being a unified group, which is distracting because you want to see the whole group but if one person is doing something different then your eyes are naturally drawn to them) and a little more dancing from Jin. He's a great dancer and although I know he's trying to get away from his KAT-TUN image, the performance would have had twice the amount of energy if he had danced a little. I think that the main things that keep me from giving this event 5 stars have more to do with the venue than the actual performance. The lack of standing room made it difficult for the audience to get into the music as much as they could have because, lets face it, this is dance music and that is what it makes you want to do. So more room to move would have improved the energy level even more, and then there was the sound. It was great, loud, and powerful, but at times it was too sharp and Jin's voice was often drowned out by the music and by his own background tracks, so sometimes you could hear the tracks better than you could hear him, which was annoying. So, better sound and more room would have made this performance a definite 10, 5 of 5 stars. Regardless, it was a fantastic show and I would recommend it to anyone who loves good pop/dance music and a great performance. Jin rocked the house, and me and my girlfriend went away half-deaf, sweating, and grinning like idiots. It was a lot of fun.
