    Julio Iglesias was funny

by SandraK on 2014-06-22Casino Rama - Rama

I love Julio and he can certainly still sing. However, he should either retire or understand that people are there to hear him sing. Maybe the stage managers can't get him to remember to hold the microphone closer or maybe his mic was broken. Not sure. I get the feeling he gets so much into his songs that he forgets how to hold a microphone. There were too many people leaving in the middle of the show. Very distracting. Too many people coming in late. Also very distracting. If people were leaving because they couldn't hear Julio is one thing, if they were leaving because a bus was leaving, then shame on Casinorama for allowing that. There are signs everywhere for no camera use, yet everyone was recording, taking pictures and flashes on. Instill the rules you have posted!!

    Love Julio....but

by torontobound on 2014-06-22Casino Rama - Rama

I enjoy Julio's singing but have to say that I was disappointed that he did not sing more songs in English. I did not recognize most of the songs. Moonlight Lady is one of my favourites but he did not include it in his repertoire. His ensemble were excellent but all in all, I would not recommend the show. Also, I could not hear him speaking when he held the microphone further away and he sat way back from the audience.

Not what I was used to...!

    by 1JazzAudiophile on 2014-06-22Casino Rama - Rama

Let's start with the sound - guess he was having issues with the monitors?? At some stages - sound amplification was non-existant. Secondly he sang and spoke very little in English which was a huge disappointment for those who were hoping to hear some good [English] covers. I was personally looking for a few more of his signature tunes. Looks like he is well past his live singing career and should probably stick to studio takes where computer hardware and software can produce the "originals". Take a page from Tony Bennett and see how he puts on a live show...! That's Entertainment...!

    Julio

by Balderson on 2014-06-22Casino Rama - Rama

I was disappointed. Julio was on stage for close to thirty minuits before he spoke a word of English. It is nice to see that he speaks and sings Spanish but he was in Orillia where the language of the majority of his audience spoke English.. Which explains why they started walking out at about thirty minuits - and kept walking until at least a third of them were gone by the end of his show.

    Julio still got it

by Corb on 2014-05-05The Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino - Mashantucket

Great show. Sang all the old favorites, and a couple of new ones. Mostly in Spanish, which s fine because he sings so well in his native tongue. He did three encores and hung in there even with what looked like very sore legs. The venue was very attractive (Grand Theater in CT) All in all a wonderful night. The highlight was a magnificent rendition of Willie Nelson's hit, Always On My Mind.

    Julio Iglesias! talented, charismatic, sensitive!

by gigijoe007 on 2011-11-17Casino Rama - Orillia. Ontario

What a magical night --- unbelievable and unforgettable – I still haven’t quite comprehended what had happened. I was able to attend his concert, due to the generosity of my son's friend who purchased the ticket for me, for Mother's Day! Yes, his presentation of English songs was limited, but when he sang "You were always on my mind!" -- it beckoned me! Yes, I was the fan that went to the stage! That was the first magical moment. The second was the invitation to see him after the show. I have always been a fan over the years but only recently was able to attend his concerts, at Casino Rama. He has never disappointed me in his repertoire -- English, Spanish, French, or German. His universal language is through his songs. Everything he sings, he feels. Just close your eyes, listen to the music and to his voice; (and he is also not bad looking for a 68-year-old). Julio can be a perfectionist -- especially where the acoustics are not up to his standards -- even when they are checked before the concert; and yes he does use "discreet" hand signals. I guess if his shows were 2 hrs, 3 hrs, etc. I don't think we would ever get enough of listening and seeing him. The only thing that is very distracting is when the "late arrivals" interrupt a performance.

I attended this concert with my Mom. It was her Mother's Day gift. A nice trip to Rama, to do a little bit of some gambling & then be entertained by Julio Iglesias. For myself, this concert wasn't my typical concert you would see me attend. Being this was all for my Mother. She had a fabulous time at the concert, having loved Julio for many many years. She also was so surprised that he came out for not 1, not 2 but 3 encores. She has never been to a concert with that many encores. Usually you get 1 encore and the show is over. Note to people attending, if the house lights don't come on, the concert isn't over yet. So many people started getting up, yet Julio wasn't finished. I thought that the crowd was definitely a mixture of all nationalities, who love this international singer. I am surprised to read reviews of people complaining that there wasn't enough english songs. Do you have his albums ? Do you know that he is known for singing in Italian, Spanish AND English ? I thought all the choice of songs he did, were many of his hits. So overall it was a really great concert. To me it was an average concert, being so young. But for my Mom who has listened to Julio's for many many years, she thought it was a great concert and enjoyed everything about it !
